Pretty soon the novelty will wear off, and people will see what a money-grabbing greedy attempt this is on the part of Nissan. They have nothing to offer than any and every other manufacturer does not offer and has not been for the last 5 - 8 years. A bit late, if you ask me.
Well, on the other hand, you will always find those brainwashed and braindead people whose loyalty to Nissan blinds their rationale. It's for people like that that Nissan makes the Armada and still exists.

It's really simple. We put our R&D in Trucks. They put their R&D into cars. It's not rocket science that our trucks are miles ahead and their cars are/were better. The only thing we have helping us out in the car market is that GM has been doing it for 50+ years so they know what works - we just have to do it. THEY have no clue when it comes to Trucks...

I should've indicated that my post was written in red**d mode.

In most other respects, the GMT800's are not nearly as behind as one would expect when comparing a 6 year old design to brand new ones.
), I almost go nuts. The GMT800 platform is still extremely stout, imo. Even IF the 900s were just new interiors and a styling update on the same 800 platform, they would rock. Even without the 6.0L in the half tons, they make perfectly respectable power, and get class leading fuel economy even with the 4 speed autos. The 800s biggest weakness, by far, is the dashboard. Everything else about the truck is still quite modern...

Roger, I hate to burst your bubble, but Automotive assembly plants do NOT design anything. The plants don't design the equipment used to assemble the vehicle, let alone the vehicle itself. During the original GMT-800 program, operators, production supervisors, engineers, etc. were used to assist in the development & deisgn of the production equipment used in the plant for assembly, but not during the vehicle design.
How do I know, because I was the General Assembly Electrical Engineer who installed most of the Production equipment used for the 800 program, and helped convert from the GMT-400 to the 800.
But, I am happy to hear the news about the review against the Nissan. Although it is a very ancient design, it is still a sales leader...Which I think speaks volumes about the product. And personally know that this product is very important to GM due to the profit margin involved.
On other subjects, I'm dying to know what the new 900 is all about..There were a lot of rumors floating around about future design details at the time I left, and I'd love to know if they came true!!!!

The exteriors aren't bad (I actually think Escalade is still the best looking large SUV even today), but the competition is making the GMC's, and especially the Chevy's look a little bit dated.
The 900's will take care of all of this!
Re: JD Power ratings: 2005 Nissan Aramda is OWNED by the 2005 Tahoe
No one has yet mentioned that the GMT-800s sell well and rank well while they have a live axle vs. IRS in all the other big SUVS, including expedition.

I'm not making a normative judgement in this case, just pointing out the glaring difference in rear suspension philosophy, highlited by the fact GM stayed live axle with the Trailblazer despite Explorer, pathfinder, etc. all going IRS.
They still sell competitively. Granted, much of that could be that people don't expect super ride quality out of an SUV but if they comparison shopped did they not tell the difference?

A GMC 7 pass crossover/SUV with IRS is coming in 2007

A GMC 7 pass crossover/SUV with IRS is coming in 2007So IRS is no good for Camaro but its OK for trucks, but only GM's trucks? If its OK for GM to make live axle SUVs when all others are IRS then why isn't it OK for them to make a live axle Camaro when not all others are IRS?
Re: JD Power ratings: 2005 Nissan Aramda is OWNED by the 2005 Tahoe
Just some food for though: IRS is not quite the "norm" in larger "truck based" suvs (not counting the unibody "crossover" suvs like the X5, the MClass, SRX, MDX, Pilot, etc.)
Nissan Armada = IRS
Nissan Pathfinder = IRS (I think)
Toyota 4Runner = Live
Toyota Land Cruiser = Live
Toyota Sequoia = Live (I think)
Dodge Durango = Live
Jeep GC = Live
Jeep Commander(?) = Live
GMT800s = Live
GMT360s = Live
Ford Expedition = IRS
Ford Explorer = IRS
Ford Excursion = Live
Granted, IRS is becoming more and more popular, but the 5 link, coil sprung solid rear in the Tahoe/Suburban has been praised for its ride and handling qualities in test after test, even against competitors with IRS.

... and don't forget that the Armada got ranked terrible in almost all aspects of quality.
I mean, you must be completely clueless as far as vehicles go to blow your money on that heap of crap.
