Re: its official. camaro in 06-07
First post here. I've been to a couple sites looking for more info, gminsidenews and cheersandgears. Doesn't seem to be anything concrete out there in regard to the next Camaro.
I have two GM products, a Tahoe Z71 and an H2 SUT. I love both of them. I think they are good products and feel good about supporting a company who has it's roots here (even though my motors are hecho en Mehico) At least they were built in Texas and Indiana. I also have a foreign sports car that I'm pretty sure I'm gonna sell and want to get into a sports car that has an actual usable back seat. I'd prefer it be a GM product.
I kinda like the new Mustang and have driven an auto V8. But I was pretty much uninspired by it and the quality of the interior was a big cost cutting measure. The body of the car looks a little fat to me. Anxious to see what the Cobra or Shelby numbers and appearance will be like.
If GM builds the Camaro then my vote is for the one in the popular hot rodding article.

Obviously iCE (nor his source for that matter) spend much time on this forum or cheers and gears or they would know that we already have said info.....So with this in mind lets not be too hard on the idea, after all we ALL want our favorite car to return. Arguing over the semantics of it all does seem a little pointless.

A friend of a friend says he recently saw a prototype of a certain Zeta coupe in Detroit.
Maybe we need to lighten up on old iCE.

2. You won't see anything concrete on the Camaro till it's actually unveiled. Be advised, that there's a very good reason why you can easily get confirmation of the next GTO, but you won't Camaro. Let's leave it at the fact that begining with 2007's new Buick sports sedan, there will be a series of new RWD cars and performance coupes based on a RWD chassis.
3. Cheers and Gears as well as GM Inside news are also very good places to get inside info on cars. Alot of industry people post on all 3 sites.

4. Although I think the new Mustang interior is a smigen claustrophobic and utilitarian, it's quality and attention to detail is very impressive for the price their selling at. Especially when compared to previous gen Mustangs and 4th gen F-bodies.
5. Chris Horton (the guy who does artwork for Poupular Hot Rodding) unfortunately isn't a GM designer (besides, the car in question was probally already designed, given GM's traditional timelines).

I sat in two different Mustang models in Chcago and was agast at the LACK of quality I saw and felt.
The shifter felt and looked like something out of a toy. Cheap plastic with visible parting lines on TOP of the plastic shifter handle....felt like 25 cents.....the emergency brake handle was, not only on the wrong side of the console, IMHO, it too felt horribly cheap and flimsy....with a plain rubber handle.
Guage readability was destroyed by the canyon deep bezels and black faces.
The top of the dash is too thin and hard plastic.
I was totally underwhelmed by the Mustang's interior.....

iCE I made my point, it is not to long I worte the point "s" I was making, if you took the time to actually read alot of stuff and take a time out, you would see this thread would not need to even be here since you would of sat down and read the long stuff and the short stuff...so by you saying what you said this thread is pointless..
meaning there is no 2006-07 Camaro comming out...but there is a 2007-08 Chevy coupe in the works...
Is that not what this thread was started about? not what the car was or working on but TIMELINE??

Regardless, with Pontiac having at least two Zeta coupes by the end of the decade (GTO, G8), and Buick coming in with as many as three (Roadmaster, Velite, Riviera?); why is it so impossible to fathom Chevrolet having two Zetas?
Going back to what this "friend" saw and heard, the two Zetas carried historically significant names, with the one that he saw having a name many here would be most interested in.

It's not impossible to fathom 2 Chevy Zetas. I've heard talk of a sedan also. But the Chevy coupe which started as a ponycar.......and de-evolved into a two door intermediate, is THE one that will hopefully re-evolve into a ponycar. We'll see how things turn out. But if you're thinking about a RWD replacement for MonteCarlo, that may happen.......but it's gonna be a loooooooong time from now.
