They said they were supposed to be dynoing the car after the track but have not come back to post the dyno numbers.

Trying to get them to post the timeslip or at least the 60ft on the run.
Hmmmm.

I watched their 2007 GT500 run the same at Cecil years ago.

If they haven't cured the wheel hop issues with the Mustang then I'm not getting near it. I thought they had fixed it but I guess I was wrong. Hopefully Dodge can make the Charger with the 6.4 and no hop, I doubt it though. Why couldn't my Cobalt be rwd, it would be the perfect car!

The critical figure is the mph. That figure is impressive, irrespective of the time.

The wheel hop is a little concerning.

But for a car with 70 miles they said that they ran hot at the track while track prep was not good, 110mph isn't bad at all.

Yeah, wheel hop has plagued the S197 Mustang since day one, from the GT to the GT500. They have tried a lot of things to fix it without compromising ride comfort, but it looks like perhaps (its still early to make a call) they still have not fixed it.

The good news is that it is EASILY fixed in the aftermarket for those of use that like a little stiffer ride anyway.

The rear end is solid though because even with the wheel hop issues I rarely hear of anyone blowing up a rear.

That is what surprises me. The rear must be pretty tough. Wheel hop is very hard on the rear end.

Isn't it a standard Ford 8.8" center section? Those are well known, strong units -- basically the same strength as a GM 12-bolt (which is 8.875").

Yes I do believe they are still the 8.8. Very strong.

That Evolution Performance 2011 GT that ran the 13.20 @ 110 last night put down 368rwhp/352rwtq on a Mustang Dyno with 100 miles on the odo.

Yep 8.8 still going strong since 1986 IIRC (maybe 1987), with the introduction of the S-197, Ford went with 31 spline axles. the GT500 and Bullitt cars up until 2009 used an 8.8 with larger bearings. 2011 and forward I have no idea? But one would think with the 3.73 being an optional gear and 97 more hp on tap they would use the GT500 8.8 across the board for V8 cars.

Seems right (35-45hp lost through the drivetrain).

You're right, I guess it is from last month's issue but I don't recall seeing those numbers before.
