Re: If ford dropped the 5.4L 3V Sohc

I just inherited my daughters '98 V6 camaro. Its quite good on gas and im now using it for getting to work. its not too comfortable sitting so low.The car is somewhat crude compared to '05 and up mustangs.Having said that,I find it fun to drive for some reason.Power for a V6 is very good,I hardly have to fill it up(compared to my V8 explorer)and with the 235 tire package it handles pretty good. But when I get into my '06 Roush stg2,you suddenly become aware of the camaro's shortcomings, and im don't mean handling and power.Turn signal snaps, cheap dash look and hard to turn a/c *****.The one thing I hope for the 5th gen is bigger mirrors so I can actually see whats next to me.those show car mirrors have got to go.The stangs mirrors may be clumsy looking, but they flat work.Im sure chevy will get it right, the show car has the basics to be on par with mustang.

Let me get this straight. :blah:

You work at a dealership.

One that presumably makes it's money and whose entire existance (and your paycheck) is based on actually SELLING cars to real people in the real world.

Yet..... Ford is "retarded" for having a profitable Mustang that it's dealers have no problem whatsoever selling (each of Ford's roughly 4,000 dealers sell an average of 40 per year), & not only is fully capable of keeping the car alive but is able to create a new modern version of it without even a hickup in production.

Yet..... Ford is years behind GM and retarded even though not only did GM have a Camaro that didn't sell (each of Chevy's nearly 5,000 dealers sold an average of just 6-8 Camaros per year!), but the Camaro isn't even made anymore, hasn't been in 4 years, and is going to be at least another 2 before it is?

Coop, think with your head instead of your tire-smoked pants.

Somebody gets it!!!!

That's what's always killed me about some people here. Look at acceleration as some measure technological advance, and that simply isn't the case and far from the point.

99% of people who buy a fast car aren't buying a fast car because it has the best acceleration of it's class. They buy it because it has whatever it is that's important to them... and it's fast. Whether that factor is the name, or they like the way the car looks, or the car is easier to get in & out of, or easier to live with, or evn if it's the craze of the moment. Saying a car is inferior simply because it's newest model's performance was done by it's competitor some years ago is absolutely silly if that competitor was not only outsold, but has been dead for years.

Mustang GT currently is the quickest car on the planet for the price apparently, so this whole nonsense is a moot point anyway.
