If ford dropped the 5.4L 3V Sohc
If ford dropped the 5.4L 3V Sohc
Into the base model GT and rated it at 340hp, 390lbs of torque. Would you trade your f-body in on one?
Am i the only one waiting for ford to give the GT the 3V Sohc 5.4L?
Any mustang experts know if it's going to happen?

Re: If ford dropped the 5.4L 3V Sohc
I'd be surprised if that happened at all en masse.
Somehow Ford is of the thought that 300 hp Lincoln Navigators "are enough horsepower" when the Caddy competitor is at 403...I forgot where specifically that came from on one of my visits at FTE, but there you have it.
So, for every step forward with stuff like the Escape hybrid that Ford takes, that kind of thinking that brings out mainly boring and generic vehicles makes for automotive quicksand.
If Ford really wanted to set Lincoln apart, the base Lincoln vehicle engine would be a 5.4L in EVERY Lincoln, with the v10 as an option.
Dream big, if nothing else...

Re: If ford dropped the 5.4L 3V Sohc
CAFE would be hurt I think. I thought the 5.4L was coming out in a BOSS or one of those higher then GT models. With limited production CAFE wold not be as affected as much.
Re: If ford dropped the 5.4L 3V Sohc
The GT is getting a HP upgrade somewhere in the near future. I would say especially with the Dodge Caliber SRT4 laying down 300/260 to Mustang GT's 300/320(or 315, I forget) and probably being priced at or below the GT making it the cheapest 300hp car in the USA which was a selling point for the GT. I havent seen or heard anything firm, but people seem to think a 20 or 30hp increase is on the way.

The recent announcement regarding the 6.2L Hurricane V8 may change some of that.

I'd like to see how the Ford 6.2 compares to the GM 6.2.

Ford's 6.8 V10 is rated at 310 hp and 425 torque.
GM's new 6.2 is 403 hp and 417 torque.
Safe to say Ford's new 6.2 will top GM's current horsepower and at least match their current V10 in torque.

I don't why they dont import the Falcon XR6T engine, put that in the Mustang and it would fly.

doesn't say anything on the Ford website about variable cam timing on the V10 so I guess it might not have it?
