Maybe, just maybe, for most people, at that price point, it isn't.
No amount of marketing is going to change anything about the Ridgeline's sales without other solutions.

The marketing point I want to make is that IMO the whole marketing aspect of the Ridgeline is flawed.

It's marketed as a pickup truck, when it really isn't.
It's marketed to men, though this size SUV class is dominated by women buyers.
It's styled in Honda's view as "macho" when even a Mitsubishi Raider looks like it could eat it alive.

This (again, IMO) is Honda miscalculating US buyers with an effort that comes across as half baked. I think what the package offers is actually pretty good. But it's not going to convince a Nissan Frontier buyer, let alone any other truck buyer, that Ridgeline is a better pickup.

Actually, I am 95% sure those buttresses on the Avalanche are actual structural members to make up for chopping the rear portion of the Suburban body away, but they are simply covered in plastic to make a smooth look.

Yes, this is true.

Sorry, my bad . I could have sworn I saw where they came right off. I guess I don't spend enough time crawling around Avalanches

Tremendous points; but even if you were still considering a Ridgeline, it's entry price, for what you get, is a deal-killer. By looking at how it's advertised and what the truck actually delivers, this thing has a serious identity problem. Even if it does fit your lifestyle, it's price point is ridiculous. The main feature of this vehicle is it's car-like ride and it's storage area(trunk). There are dozens of proven minivans and SUV's galore that fill the bill for thousands less.
