There is one car they got for "finishing" design work some a few months ago.

You GOTTA be kidding me?!

Have you even at least sat in a GTO or checked out it's performance figures?
Amen to that. I've had a 99 LS1 Formula, an 02 TA and a 95 LT1 Formula. None were really in the same realm of overall performance, with my 05 GTO. The IRS makes a big difference on real-world roads, for getting power to the ground and maintaining stable handling on bumpy, curvy roads. The power, torque, and PCM tuning of my A4 drivetrain is also way superior to that I had on my Fbodies. Overall it's quite a bit better....

Guy I gotta know is a RWD Pontiac the sedan that comes before the Camaro or is a Chevy coming before Camaro? I remember that the Sedan needs to come first but right now with all the don't post it here, well it is ok to post it here stuff my brain is shot. Charlie said I was reaching on C&G but is G8 coming before Camaro? Also is Zegma the 'sigma lite', VE, or chevy chassis? My brain hurts I am going to bed guys. Good night.

This chassis is a Chevrolet chassis.

Guess I can finally lose the sports bike analogy from last February.

Seems the original plan was premium sedans and high performance coupes would come off the RWD Holden VE based chassis because they could command the prices to make it profitable, while Chevy might have gotten a lower cost RWD version to use as a volume chassis later.

For whatever the final reasons, the "Premium" RWD chassis fell through. Buick and Pontiac's planned RWD models for '08 were put on ice, and GM froze everything for the GMT900 (turned out to be true).

In all this, it seemed the "Chevy" RWD chassis evolved into the favorite, and when the money got flowing again, it seems that the Chevy chassis was put on the fast track, and seems to have become the priority over even the Espilon 2!

Now you know why I've been imprevious this year to rumors from "No Camaro till after 2010" to "Sedans are coming 1st, and Camaro much later". I never had blueprints or engineering details, but I did have good solid assurances, and even more important.....ENTHUSIASM..... from multiple people (meaning over 5) who were involved directly in some way or another.

I honestly don't know if there's been a decision about Pontiac and Buick ending up on this chassis, but I can paint a "hypothetical" picture:

1. GM plans to make a VE here for Buick & Pontiac.
2. GM cancels plans to make VE here, but considers importing some from Holden in the interim.
3. Australia's dollar becomes alot stronger, cancelling that idea.
4. Chevy's chassis, since it's lower cost begins to look good as a GM volume "world" RWD chasis.
5. GM decides to make the VE a short lived car, and move Holden's RWD line to this new chassis around the end of the decade.
6. Buick & Pontiac which planned to have a version of the VE, now scrambles to adapt designs to the Chevy chassis since it won't be worth it to gain the VE, and it wouldn't make sense to import a version of the VE.

guionM, I gather the Chevrolet chassis will still be quite sophisticated?

As the previous owner of four F-Bodies and now a current GTO I can't state the same position. While I truly loved the F-Bodies the GTO is a great all around car. The Interior design, fit, materials is no contest. The suspension is very supple, compliant, and feels well within itself and confident. Body roll is present in corner off gas creating understeer. Corner on gas seems to create an acceptable set with oversteer possible depending on throttle modulation. The powertrain is absolutely butter.

The styling is most peoples complaint, then again no one ever agrees 100% on styling. To me the Mustang says more visually. Though the GTO has a simple, sophisticated, elegance to it..

Add a set of nice sway bars to the GTO my short complaint list would be much shorter.

At the same time the GTO was being morphed from the Monaro down under GMNA didn't have a suitable chassis to carry the GTO badge here in the US. We all know the GTO was a minimal investment, stop gap, fill the need now car for the US. Sure there are going to be concessions and things the car doesn't exactly address. Though from a consumer standpoint I'm very glad GM did bring this car over.

Will Australia be getting a version of the new Camaro? Does anyone know? I remember the talk about the Monaro comming back as a dedicated sports car opposed to being a 2-door Commodore.

Monaro, I think. But currently, you're probably closer to the Camaro/Monaro action than me. Keep your eyes and ears open down there.

Could anyone here who owns an 05 or 06 goat take newbie for a ride and bring sometype of recording device to see his change in stance. A guy I worked with who had a camaro ss found the goat to be a better car overall.

You guys are doing alot of work on it, so I would say so.

Charlie's right, though. You are getting a coupe.

You're right, it won't be a 2 door Commodore.

And at the moment, it still looks like it's going to be made here (North America).

Just make sure its RHD so when I buy thing I don't jump into the passenger seat

Will there be a 2-door VE couple ala 2-door Commodore as well as the Monaro on whatever the platform is called now fill me in is it....
