GM wants to play hardball since it's in the battle of its life. The union is no different - they see declining membership and shrinking benefits, and this is the time to make their stand. Both parties are on a collision course. While it might appear amusing (in a lighter mood, I'd be making the same sort of snack and drink comments), it's going to be an economic disaster if a strike occurs.
