Those of us who are against the retro movement for the next Camaro should or may be able to breathe a sigh of relief. The replacement for the Jaguar XK TOTALLY LOOKS AWESOME. Sure, it may take twice as long to pay off, but damn! It looks good!

That looks great. The body lines and proportions look really nice, along the lines of the Aston Martin coupes. A Chevy Coupe that emulated that overall design would look very nice, hints of retro, but still modern.
Re: Guess what guys? Looks like the future isn't so bleak afterall
Bob Lutz made it clear some time ago that he's against "retro" styling. Save the PT Cruiser and now the HHR, his track record bears that out.

I was thinking the same thing, but others seemed to be getting it....

That car would look so much better if it was shotened up a bit. What is the lenght on that? I hope the camro is that long (or look that long).
Re: Guess what guys? Looks like the future isn't so bleak afterall
My purpose of this topic was to basically say...
"If you don't end up liking the 5th gen Camaro, you might just find the new Jaguar XK-type-car a good alternative." It might be out of the price league, but some of us care more about the styling than how fast/cheap/bang-for-your-buck it is. If the 5th gen ends up full out retro, and I somehow happen to get a hold of a lot more money than I foresee making right now, I'd sure as hell spring for the Jag. I don't care if Ford owns Jaguar, as long as it doesn't have that tacky blue oval on the nose it's good enough for me.
As for it looking like an Aston Martin I agree, I think it looks like a direct copy of the AMV8 concept car. Perhaps Aston Martin and Jaguar will be doing the whole Camaro/Firebird sharing of parts. Personally, I prefer this over the Aston Martin version just because I don't like the gigant Aston grills. The front end of this needs adjusting in my opinion, but the rear is beautiful.
Besides that, I think it looks like what the 5th gen Camaro might look similar to. It has that Camaro look to its design overall; much more "Camaro" than the GTO, Solstice, etc appear to be.

Except for maybe the "Krylon Gray" Intrepids used to come in.
