Folks, just as a point of reference - and you can do with it what you like, which is probably to ignore it - I've driven the 911 Turbo and the 911 GT2 (basically a Turbo with a few more HP and without the AWD system) back-to-back on a racetrack. While the GT2 indeed felt lighter whenever I was on the throttle or brakes, it also felt like it was going to kill me if I so much as thought about making a mistake. The AWD Turbo was far more composed, and the extra weight wasn't as noticeable as the extra traction.

This idea here of a lighter, RWD GT-R may seem wise, but I'm guessing that Nissan has made the correct design decision for the vast majority of buyers and real-world conditions.

Very possibly. I was just writing about what would appeal more to me.

Regarding the GT2, there's only so much Porsche can do to hide the fact that the engine is sticking out behind the rear wheels.
