and that would look silly across the street from the sister sedan looking like a pontiac. nevermind the bashing from the media.

Makes you wonder if the G8 itself should have been a Chevelle from the get-go, rather than a Pontiac, then the El Camino version would have been a natural, and historically correct sub-vehicle.

that would make sense now but i'm betting that the need for new pontiacs is what made the decision we have now. plus the GTO opened the door for the holden=pontiac collaboration in the first place.

Should have had a Bowtie on it in the first place.

Why GM insists on doing this stuff is beyond me... The way forward? Put a bullet in Pontiac and Saturn, LIKE NOW.

I'm glad it didnt come out. It would have been a sales flop after the initial group of fans bought theirs and the media would have jumped all over it as another example of GM's incompetence.

Wouldn't have sold a huge amount of units, but "flop" is all in the marketing. If GM claims the sky is the limit for production and only 5000 are sold it it will be considered a flop. If ONLY 5000 are sold and each one has a limited edition badge saying xxxx of 5000 and those fans buy them right up it will be a huge success.

How is this any different than the G3 or G5?

Who cares what the sub models were decades ago. Seriously some people need to get out of the past.

The G8 bumper and airbags fit the ST??

I dunno. It probably saves a little money but calling a G8 ST is just uncalled for.

Its an El Camino! By Chevrolet!

To a degree, yes...

But at the same time, they could have brought the Camaro back as a Buick Centurion (maybe up a name), but they didn't because people wanted a Camaro ....

Just a Holden Ute.

I know this really isn't the right thread for it, but I think it was a mistake for the V6 and V8 G8 to look dang near identical. The V6 doesn't need hood scoops and a low chin spoiler.
