I didn't think it should have been built anyway.

Well it least Pontiac fans will still have the G3
It would have been nice If they could have done at least 1 year of the G8 ST. Market it as a limited edition 1 year run and it would sell 5000 units easy.

I think this was an extreme niche vehicle that was already headed for the wrong dealer showroom...
I don't know how much they save by killing it... had to have been relatively cheap to do all things considered, and also considering how far along it's development must have been.
But, either way, I dont think this is a great tragedy except for the small group of niche buyers who were able to get past this not being a Chevy, which eliminated a lot of the small number of potential buyers before they even look at it.

I just checked the Pontiac web site and see they half-assed their website to remove the G8 ST.

The heading refers to 4 cars and they show 4 cars... yet at the bottom, they only have links to the three remaining cars. Also, the buttons on the bottom are labeled incorrectly (one even says G8 ST, but it actually directs to the G3)

That one step has reduced the number of cars from GM I'm considering buying next year by 50%.
You guys DO realize that since GM expected to sell both the G8 ST and Z28 at roughly the same volume, and the Z28 more adversely affects CAFE (check out CTSv's numbers) we're almost certainly going to see that cancelled as well.
The press of GM coming out with a car like the Z28 would play alot worse than a sport truck would have.
Before you ask, the GT500 gets a pass because it's already been out for a couple of years and Ford isn't looking at immediately imploding without Federal help.
Rant all you want at this likelihood, but don't be shocked when you get the news.

It is already sold over seas. It just needed Pontiac badges and grill. http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/...y?vehicleid=15
Silly move. The work and spending is already done, and the ST would have done zilch to (if it sold in unexpected volume) been a positive influence on GM's truck CAFE rating

After two decades plus of waiting for an El Camino replacement, this is the cruelest cut of all for me.
And a very stupid decision.
