BWAHAHA! Ford's ads are AMAZING!! Wow....
Yeah, the STS commercial sucked...it only stuck it to the european mid sized luxury cars.
How about thoes AMAZING Focus commercials where the dulled down focus tries to talk to the owner to take it for a spin!
Only good Ford commercial was the Ford GT commercial. Outside of that, they are all very short of amazing.
And GM doesnt have much to offer in performance?!?!?!
Where is Fords 50k 400hp sports car?
Where is Fords 390hp hot rod truck?
Where are Fords supercharged sedans?
Where are Fords 300hp V8 sedans?
Where are Fords 400hp V8 luxury cars?
Where is Fords 400hp V8 sports coupe?
Where are Fords sport compact performance cars?
Ford has 2 "performance" cars, and 1 that 98% of the population can touch, and thats the Mustang. Everything else is boring, dull, outdated, or way behind.
Where is Fords stuff? GM brought there game...where is Ford?

Wow you really don't like Ford do you.
All those vehicles you just named are great, but I can't afford a Vseries or a Vette, and shirk at the though of a cobalt SS and SSR, and I don't see the point in super charging FWD. But thats just me. O/T I saw a yellow GTO on the street today, nice, but still think it should have been more distinguishable from the rest of pontiacs line.
It amazes me how people have the attitude that with two competing companies one can be vastly superior to the other in every possible way and yet the numbers never put them too far apart.

In reality GM has more sports cars than ford but this is a camaro website. There is a small window where the camaro/bird fit that is missing and that is the price range/equipment range most people on here are looking for and thats where the stang is fitting.
The reasons the others are ignored:
Cobalt is too small/compact
Monte/imp: FWD, not V8
C6, CTS-V,XLR,SSR: too expensive for most
Silv SS: Too low power for many
While the GTO should fit the bill for many, I think just the fact the exterior is a little plain and that it isnt' an F-bod is why few warmed up to. Though the dealer hikes didn't help either. I think many are still hoping for that 25k 400hp V8, until that comes along I dont think the grumbling will stop.
Re: Ford: "The road ahead..."
I understand that we want a Camaro...I am one of thoes people. Its the only reason I joined this site was because of this board alone.
But to say that GM has nothing to offer is wrong. Maybe not to you, but they are making performance cars for the masses, and in much more numbers then Ford is.
While GM and Dodge are making V8 powerd RWD sedans, 500hp sports cars, and hot rod trucks, Ford comes up with nothing but a car taht might have been good back in 1998.
So far, numbers of the new Mustang are sad to say the least. They are mixed, and it does seem that some people are pulling better times out of it then others, but it seems to be in the high 13' sec range. Much different then the "LS1 Fbody" killer it was said to be.
Its not that I hate Ford. Its that when you say something that is flat out wrong, I tend to correct someone. To say that GM has nothing is WRONG.
All these Anti-GM fans seem to stem from one reason, and that is that GM canned the Fbody.
So for thoes who cannot keep the faith, please I beg you to put your money where your mouth is, go down to your local Ford dealer, and buy a 05 Mustang GT. Thats all I ask. If you want a pony car sooo bad, and you cant wait...Ford is the place for you.

All car companies come out with pretty rediculous ads sometimes, who cares...I know your biased against Ford and all, but most of the time it affects your better judgement. Theres a difference between being vocal and being too-vocal to the point its just makes you look arrogant.
The STS commercial I seen was very fitting for what it was...directed towards the market their trying to steal, whats wrong with that?
Re: Ford: "The road ahead..."
I was kidding about the STS commercial.
The Aveo commercial was great, and it showed you, with some computer enhancments, how big the Aveo is compared to its size, which it is a very roomy car for a sub-compact. It got its point across very well.
The Focus commercial where the car yells as the driver...I couldnt stand that commercial.
Being biased doesnt mean anything. I do like some of Fords commericals, including the F150 series of commercials, and the GT commercial.
But the commercials for the new 500, Freestyle, Freestar, etc...boring, dull and mudane...like the car they are trying to advertise. Outside of the "dancing cars" 500 commercial, none of them get there point across.
GM likes to use muisc, and I bet every time you hear Steppenwolf's Magic Carpet Ride, or Zeplins Rock 'n Roll, you think about Chevy or Caddy. Great marketing IMO because they are great songs that have great soul, and when you hear them on TV, you know exactly what the commercial is, and you know exactly who it is, even if your back is turned to it.
Ford...no music, no drama. If you are not watching it, you will miss the commercials all together.

Do we really need all that stuff in the first place? What happened to cars that just get people around? Why do they all have to have gas guzzling engines? What company really needs a 390 horsepower retro truck in the first place? It doesn't even sell that well, I've only seen TWO on the street and not sitting at the dealership. Where is GM's attractive 2+2 sports coupe that eats Mustangs for breakfast? (Oh wait... they replaced it with a retro hot rod truck
)
But you know what? I don't even know why I am defending Ford. I just said I thought their ads were as good as gold, I don't really care about what cars they are offering. They just beat the pants off GM's comercials with the crappy Led Zepelin 3 second audio clip and whatever terrible song they are using in the Pontiac comercials now too. The only one's I can think of as worse that are somewhat current are those Mitsubishi Gallant ones or whatever that have that annoying "bar brawl mix" or is it "ball room mix"? song playing in the background and the necessity to view the end of the comercial on the website. To say Ford isn't getting the point across is an understatement, maybe you are just tuning it out. They are announcing that they have 6 brand new models (renditions) and saying that they are going in a new direction, what is not to get?
If you really want to laugh at bad ads, recall Infiniti's ad years ago that had no sound and didn't even show the cars, it was just silence and showed foggy video of rivers and mountains and forests and such. Supposedly that comercial almost caused Infiniti to go bankrupt (or so I've been told).

Add a Duratec 3.5 capable of 280HP, they're pretty much set for the future. I fully expect Ford to pull away from Chevrolet 2006+.
Re: Ford: "The road ahead..."
A couple of points.
First, argueing with Al about his bias is the most useless thing you will ever do. In the "World according to Al," all GM vehicles are the best, most amazing things ever built............ and all Fords suck (short of the Ford GT which Al may buy if it was priced at $25,000). That he would brag about the Monte Carlo SS, and Impala SS just goes to show how deep his bias goes.
Now, as to the Tributes suspension tuning being different than the Escapes........ this is very true. The Escape is tuned for ride, and the Tribute is tuned to be sporty. I know this because I own a Tribute. The Tibute will pull the same slalom speed as the Gen II Lightning (61.3mph). This is all the more amazing when you consider the difference in tires. 295 F1's for the L, and 235 M&S's (my husband jokes they are Mud and Sports) for the Tribute. The Tribute also accomplishes this while riding alot better than the L.
I could not look at any GM small utes, as they do not handle well. While I do like the Equinox, again, the handling sucks and is tuned way too soft. You would think with all 48 varieties of the Trailblazer, that at least one would be tuned more sporty.......... but there is nothing. If someone mentions the Vue......... how dare you. The steering is hideous.

Re: Ford: "The road ahead..."
Id like for you to show me where I said that all GM vehicles are the best? I only stated that GM has a lot more performance, and a lot more then what Ford has to offer.
If you actualy read some of the stuff I write, and not just join in on a "Beat On Big Al" thread, then you will understand that there is a LOT of stuff I dont like about GM.
But that doesnt matter, cause the only threads you pay attention to are the ones when I bash Ford cause of there lack of product.
And to Brangeta, we were talking about performance cars, not daily drivers. GM also has a great set up when it comes to that as well. GM offers both performance and utility.
As for Ford's 3.5 making 280...where is it then? Where is this mythical engine? Still waiting while the 500 and Freestyle are still relying on extra transmision speeds to help out its acceleration.
