Ford: "The road ahead..."
Re: Ford: "The road ahead..."
I saw the dancing car commercial with the 500. Reminds me a lot of the VW commercial they had, when there was a guy in a Taurus, thinking about how the AWD system works in a VW...while he is slowly spinning on the ice, around and around.
Re: Ford: "The road ahead..."
Saw it last night during the MNF game. Every other commercial seemed to have been a 500 or freestyle ad. Liked it overall, and the cars weren't bad either. Outside of the dull exterior and the 3.0 duratec (soon to be replaced by more powerful 3.5 Duratec), i actually kind of liked the 500. The interior looked pretty good, and the fact that you can get an AWD version for under 25k will probably be a big selling point for them. About time they tossed a decent to good family car into the mix, the taurus was getting REALLY old. When is the fusion (futura) due for release?
Re: Ford: "The road ahead..."
The ones that get me, are the trucks pulling a lot of weight. Like the chevy a few years back pulling a tanker by the docks. Or the new ford pulling concrete blocks. Not a manual trans!

Re: Ford: "The road ahead..."
Yeah, its not like GM has 3 400hp cars in its stable, a 390hp hard top hot rod, 2 supercharged sedans and a coupe, and now a 300hp V8 sedan.
Lets not forget 2 supercharged sport compacts.
Nope no performance here! No muscle cars!!
Please...Ford has 1 affordable performance car.

Re: Ford: "The road ahead..."
Please do enjoy your GT. But to say such a statement as GM has no muscle cars is wrong.
Corvette starts off cheaper then the C5. I belive a base C6 with 6spd(which is standard) is 43k. Only car above the 50k mark is the CTS-V, and that is with a sun roof.
GTO, CTS-V and C6 are all 400hp "muscle cars" if you will. Not to mention the SSR which is sub-50k.
And as far as dead end, I belive Ford is. They realize that they dont have good product out there, and they pin there hopes to the F series and the Mustang.
But isnt that Fords plan? They dont care if they lose market share, but they will make money? Something like that. So far, there plan is working flawlessly.

Re: Ford: "The road ahead..."
your hopeless,I give up. By the way I did not say GM has no good musclecars,I was responding to someones comment about the road ahead being a dead end for ford and that ponycar wise GM was looking at the dead end.

No...no, you said muscle cars, not Pony cars.
Re: Ford: "The road ahead..."
Uhhhhh don't get me wrong, but GM doesn't have that much to offer this year. Thinking it does is hard to imagine. The revised GTO is okay I guess, but it really should have looked like that in the first place. The Corvette C6 totally RULES, you'll be sick of flip up headlights 5 minutes after you see and drive the C6. As far as I'm concerned, the new Corvette is a Ferrari and I love it. The Cobalt is so-so but the Dodge Srt-4 will probably beat it in sales (I could be wrong though). Other than that, not much to offer. I don't like the new Cadillac stuff because I've never liked luxury cars really, and I don't think the G6 is all that great. In a few years we will be regarding the G6 about as well as we regard the Oldsmobile Aurora or Ford Taurus. It just isn't special enough to have a lasting appeal I don't think.
Ford on the other hand has an AMAZING advertising campaign supporting some nice new vehicles; including the amazing GT which we'll probably never see in our local Ford dealerships, the Mustang which is pretty cool for a Mustang, and that new hybrid SUV. What is so great about the hybrid SUV other than it being a hybrid? Well... it is really short in height... Ford's first step towards trucks that aren't annoyingly tall in my opinion. It is only like 3 inches taller than the 500. I'm a Ford hater as much as the next Camaro driver, but I'm also an advertising major in college and Ford's campaign is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. The Cobalt comercials were hilarious, but that's about it. The Pontiac ones suck and so do the Cadillac ones. Just showing the car and putting a 5 second audio clip from a song that played when your target market was 14 years old just doesn't work (in case you don't know, the "play music your target market listened to when 14 yrs old" thing is GM's strategic plan among other companies').

Re: Ford: "The road ahead..."
just remember the Trans Am WS6 has THE BEST COMMERICAL OF ALL TIME They aired it back in 97&98 when the new LS1 Trans Am came out.
It is very dark and eerie out. There is the black T/A WS6 pulls up to a red light behind a Lamborginhi. Then the announcer says that this is the new Trans Am WS6, and it is very hungry. They rev the engine up, and the light turns green, and it shows just the bare chassis of the Lamborignihi and the T/A driving off into the distance.
