The 15-18 y/o girls we often speak of dont actually buy the car or get titled to it. Thats why it appears that men buy them. Because they do.
So what percentage of Mustangs are purchased by Dad's for their daughters?

Not surprising that it is selling more than the 300c...there is a pretty big price difference between the two. Over 10k between the V6 'stang and the 300c (before you say "what about the base C"..those are selling like crap and 50% of all 300's sold are C's)
Price difference isn't as big as it seems due to the markup on most mustangs nowadays. Around my neck of the woods, loaded v6 coupes (dealer stocks on loaded only) are going for 25k and GT's damn near 30k. So real world pricing is a bit different than what the msrp's say.

But In the end, the fact that a compromised 2 door sports coupe with little back seat can sell well enough to belong on the top 10 passenger car lists with 9 other 4 door family sedans is impressive. If there were any surprises on that list, it was definitly the mustang.

All of them. Didn't you know ONLY girls and girly men bought mustangs? half the guys on here seem to have that mentality.

I hope you're not expecting a serious answer out of him. of course this is something that he just conjured up without any real factual basis other than "I saw X number of girls in mustangs yesterday".

I'm just curious how he came about those numbers. I suspect you are right.

FYI...in my area, V6s are selling at sticker, and GTs (if you can find one) are being marked up ~$3k.

I will guarantee its a high percentage, although we'll never be able to know what it really is of course. It was a common occurance here with the last M*stangs. Almost every V6 car was "owned" by a girl. Right out of school too.

Because, to me anyway, you are implying that Mustang numbers are somehow illegitimate because the entry level Mustang costs less than the top of the line 300. What about Mustang GT compared to 2.7 and 3.5 300's?

I'm not sure of the 300's breakdown, but you yourself stated that 50% of 300's sold are 300C's. Well, GT's are limited to 50% of Mustang orders, so I really don't understand your point.

To answer your question, no, I don't get what you're saying.

Over time here, I have been one of the most vocal anti-retro peopel on the board... and even I will admit, Mustang is going to have an incredible sales year.

The only thing that is yet to be seen is the staying power of the design... I think a lot of people may buy a retro styled car because it is "different", but once you start seeing them a lot, that appeal may go away... but, I think having the Mustang name on the car is going to minimize that.

My biggest beef, still, is how they are going to freshen the car as time goes by...

Do you have a problem with reality? lol

The point of my first post is that, I see and have seen many young girls driving Mustangs (bought new) that were bought for them by their Dad. If you look at the gender and age of the BUYER, you might think grown men are more fond of V6 Mustangs than they really are.

All it required was a litle thought... Not a scientific survey. Dont take yourself so seriously.

"a lot" lol

That's as far as I care to look into it. Writing a book? Leave that chapter out...

You guys dont trust reality? Or do you get out of the house any??

Reality as judged by Graham's little world...yeah . Because we all know the world revolves around your very thoughts .

And thanks for proving me correct with the "i see X amount of young girls in mustangs". Right in line with the type of response i was expecting.

Jokes aside, I'll go with your little "thought" and add
1) More men bought mustangs than camaro
2) More woman bought mustangs
3) more young guys/boys bought mustang or probably had it bought for them by daddy
4) More girls bought or probably had mustangs bought for them than camaro by daddy
5) more old people bought mustangs
6) more men bought v8 mustangs than v8 camaroi's
7) more woman probably bought v8 mustang mustang than v8 camaro
8) More men bought v6 mustangs than v6 camaro's
9) and so on.....
and that's probably all because....
10) there are 3x as many mustangs sold as camaro's (based off last couple of years)

So yes, it's NO secret that the mustang is more popular with the masses. This has always been the mustangs selling point, and the camaro's too till the 4th gens. But some of you guys are in over your heads if you think selling 26k or so camaro's to guys qualify's it as being any more a "mans car" than mustang. Or knowing 6 or so girls who had v6 mustangs bought for them by daddy meant that guys don't really by v6 cars.

Believe what your want to believe, but at the end of the day, camaro needs every sale it can get to be considerred a sales success. Yes! that includes woman/girl/v6 sales as well.

Pricing isn't the only thing that's apples to orange. You have the whole 2 door with cramped rear seating vs 4 door with plenty of rear seating and the fact that ones is a sports coupe and the other a sedan.

So while pricing definitly favors mustang, the practicality favors the 300. Pricing sells...no doubt, but so does practicality (hence why 9 of the 10 listed cars are sedans).

In realiaty, both are very different products competing for seperate markets. About the only thing similar is the Rwd/v8 setup.

What do you need numbers for, again? Do you work for GM?

Don't take yourself soo seriously. You might be stuck on you, but no one else is. You aparently think you deserve specific figures behind every post, so I apologise. I dont have any. I just speak of what I see..... in my wittle old world...

I'll go with all that though. Except that I don't believe the Camaro was more of a man's car because of sticker price. But I don't have any numbers to back up how I feel about how torque and speed feel and sound to me..

It's nice to have some sort of basis or sound logic when presenting something as fact, and numbers provide that as opposed to conjuring up or recalling some random sightings to prove a point .

You can't make a sound argument based off demography's and ignore the #'s...period.
