Finally...the NSX gets some balls!
Re: Finally...the NSX gets some *****!
NSX practicality - check
Well developed razor sharp chassis - check
Well built exotic - check
Horsepower - check
Torque - ????? - "and Honda wants to reinforce its race-bred Formula 1 credibility with the car"
Yay! another honda car with .0000000000000001 foot pounds of torque and 1000 hp/per liter

Just playing with ya man.
In all seriousness, the NSX was COMPETITIVE when it came out but Honda failed to keep up with all the other cars in terms of performance, and rised the price too astronomically to even stand a chance of selling that many.
We'll see how this round goes...
Re: Finally...the NSX gets some *****!
I dunno. I always thought that the NSX was the epitome of underwhelming and overpriced. Besides, I'm a fan of torque down low and off the line - buzzsaw engines don't thrill me.

Hah, there was this guy named Watt, and he had this fancy new, highly efficent for the time steam engine, but needed a way to market it. So he came up with this marketing spin you see, He called it horsepower see, and suckas have been swayed by it ever since
Re: Finally...the NSX gets some *****!
The NSX is and was a great car - but it was too engineered. Great cars that look like supercars, but dont perform, behave, and generally feel like one. An engineering masterpiece to say the least.
Not to be the total bubble burster - but I dont see a 500hp V10 being created for this super Honda.
Is anyone else raising an eyebrow that every time some new magazine comes out with a new supra or whatever it always has a mythical "500hp v8" or usually a "500hp v10"?
The car doesnt even need 500hp, so honda wouldnt put that much into it. Honestly I think the whole new NSX wont even happen anyway...

Re: Finally...the NSX gets some *****!
IMO they need to stick a hi performance multi valve V8 under the hood, even if it makes less power, it'll be lighter, and more importantly they could use that V8 platform to get a V8 in other vehicles that need one like the RL and the Ridgeline.
Re: Finally...the NSX gets some *****!
I have a video of an NSX-R racing a BMW M3 CSL, 911 GT3, Gallardo, and Murcielago.. it easily ran away from all of them in the twisties on a roadcourse in Japan, the lambos did pass him, but only after something happened to the car and it had to slow down after some laps... It is built for roadracing. In R spec most cars NEED the extra 100 hp just to keep up.
Sure, the normal NSX is no R, but it's performance limits in a roadcourse are far above most "sports" cars out there.

well put
the nsx was never about brutal acceleration but pure balance. run one down the street and yep, you'll be thinking i could have bought a vette for 1/2 as much and had more car. open one up on a road course and the tides completely turn. with that said i won't argue that honda let the nsx get outdated; it was a phenomenal car in 92, still a competitor in 97 but in todays world in it's current trim it leaves a lot to be desired. honda had their eyes elsewhere and the nsx took a back seat to vehicle development in the suv and truck areas, a market much more economically sensible than 85k dollar super cars. unfortunately they have taken the same track with the S2000; phenomenal at its onset and still a class leader but it's slowly slipping into the outdated realm. with the new engine structure in F1, going away from v10's to super high revving v8's, i think it would be more plausible to expect honda to engineer something along the lines of a 400hp small displacement, high revving 8 cylinder than a 10. alas, if it happens it'll be 2009 and i'm almost shamed to say i think by that time they'll have already outdated themselves.
