Finally...the NSX gets some *****!

NSX

now first off i don't want to hear how a Z06 will be cheaper and faster, i think that's a moot point. i'm just glad to see that honda is actually going to go forward with an NSX replacement and not kill it completely like they had been talking. it is kind of sad though how they report it has its sights set on the ferrari and lexus but there's no mention whatsoever about the Z06 when it's pretty much set the standard for everyone. i hope they can come up with a viable S2000 replacement that isn't AWD!

That is impressive. It's actually going to be fast this time!

The naturally aspirated part is what is the most impressive. You'd tihnk they woulda turbo'd it, heh.

But that concept looks pretty cool I will admit. I think they're setting the target at Ferrari more of a pricing structure (EXOTIC car) instead of performance, really.

I don't consider the Z06 exotic

My friend is getting a brand new TSX on saturday. I think honda/Acura has a bright future. The TL in 6 speed is really nice.

Re: Finally...the NSX gets some *****!

Saying that the NSX isn't as good of deal in terms of performance for the dollar doesn't mean much, because there is no car that offers as good of performance for the dollar in stock form than the C6/C6 Z06.

Somebody posted the latest rumors in the future vehicle section and that's all they could talk about was how the C6 would outperform it for about the same price. Performance isn't all there is to a car, some people just can't realize that.

If everybody in the world bought a car strictly based on performance for the dollar, then everybody in the world would have bought a V8 f-body by now.

Exactly. Some people buy a car for a name, which is why theres Camaros and Mustangs beating Lamborghinis and Ferraris. I could buy a fbody for 5k, then drop 20k into it and it'll be a hell of a lot faster than a C5. Why would I go out and buy a Corvette if I can do that? Because its a Corvette. Some people like getting exotic cars, not for performance but for the prestige.

I agree of course but I have to say, it's not just the name - in fact for me and many others the name matters very little - even most people who own a Vette and an f-body will tell you there's a pretty drastic difference in the handling, suspension, interior, etc, and both of those are Chevrolets. The differences can become even more substantial when moving from brand to brand.

I challenge anyone who disagrees to drive, say, a 911 Carrera S. Looking at the specs, especially accelaration times, you might wonder who in their right mind would spend 80k on one of those when they could get the significantly better performing Z06 for a bit less.

But after driving one you might understand that numbers on paper can only convey so much. And while I still wouldn't fault you for buying the Z06 (hell, that's what I'd buy too), you would at least appreciate why people might choose to go with another choice.

Re: Finally...the NSX gets some *****!

well i think at the end of the day it doesn't necessarily come down purely to "prestige' of a brand name. there's a lot of people that take history into consideration and also (i being one) racing history. i like the fact that honda is a strong F1 competitor and has some good racing history in its blood. chevrolet has some amazing racing history in its blood but don't tell that to many europeans and asians. for them racing is comprised of circuits like F1 and lemans (and until recently chevy didn't have much of a showing) so their "heritage" lies with brands like ferrari, honda, bmw etc... to top it all off you can take the best there is and sometimes it just doesnt seem to "fit" some people as well as others, regardless of how much hp and whatnot. i wouldnt trade my honda for a vette even though i know damn well the vette will run circles around it simply because i do not like the way vettes "fit". i hate the seating position, the layout of the cockpit etc. if the vette fit like my honda i'd be driving a vette

Yeah, I was going to say, too bad about the point not being able to talk.

Um, I think this is old news. Didn't we know it was going to be a naturally aspirated V10 about three months ago? Maybe we didn't have a horsepower figure, but you had to assume the number would be big.

Aiming for the F430 is a MUCH loftier goal than the Z06. Every review I've read of the F430 says that if you have an unlimited budget and want an all-around high-performance car, the F430 is the absolute best car you could buy.

Yea but who has an unlimited budget??? To me a car being expensive doesn't make it cool.
