Does GM own? I think just today I found out that GM owns Direct TV. What else is there?

I've looked through their site. I've known about all of the automobile factions, but the Direct TV thing threw me for a loop today. Was just wondering if anyone else knew about it.

Actually GM doesn't own DirecTV outright anymore since selling Hughes (DirecTV's parent company) last year.
They still own like 14% or something, but not all of it like they used to.

They have made some of the best Locomotives in the world although GE has taken over to a large part.

That was true a few years ago, but GM is regaining market share again. GM has a huge presence in the export market whereas GE does well domestically. Unfortunately GM has not been able to design a freight locomotive that competes with GE on both cost and performance, and as a result loses a lot of money on their domestic sales.

Like many of GM's non-core divisions, Electro-Motive division has been for sale for a long time. It was almost sold last fall but the deal fell through at the last minute.
