yeah, it shuts down 3 cyls, and runs on the other 3.
And its AFM, not DoD. Get with the acronyms fellas.

It must have gotten so cheap, and so simple it makes no sense not to have it.
Automakers are under a lot of pressure to increase fuel economy, not just for marketing purposes but also for CAFE. They will go to incredible lengths for just a few tenths of a MPG. If DOD saves even 1 or 2 MPG, that's a great return on investment given the relatively small cost of the system.

Agree.

However, I wish GM would quote real world gains instead of the most optimistic of gains. For AFM (or DoD), I would expected economy gains in the city cycle (heavy traffic) moreso than the highway cycle.

OT: In Australia, we're lucky in that we have lean cruise enabled in the factory tune... I get AFRs in the region of 17:1, which renders AFM almost redundant.

2007 Will be a short model year for the CTS. The 2008 is said to be out Q2 2007

I think the '08 CTS will be the first car to get the new DI 3.6L. If Caddy uses DI 3.6L's that leave the current 3.6L so be used by every other division.

There are laws about what the car manufacturers can quote, dating back to the 70s when the manufacturers would quote their own fuel economy runs.

I don't think you could meet U.S. NOx standards with a lean AFR like that.
