STS pricing announced

DETROIT - Cadillac today announced that pricing for the all-new 2005 Cadillac STS luxury performance sedan will start at $40,995, including a destination freight charge of $695. The STS will be available in dealerships this fall. Popularly equipped, the V-6 and V-8 models are priced below the segment volume leaders, Mercedes Benz E-Class and the BMW 5-series.

Both models include standard equipment such as a 5-speed automatic with Driver Shift Control, rear-wheel drive, StabiliTrak Stability Enhancement System, a Bose sound system with CD player, leather seating surfaces, Keyless Access with push button start, Adaptive Remote Start, Panic Brake Assist, and much more.

Other optional features available on the V-6 and V-8 models include memory personalization, a Bose 5.1 Studio Surround System with 15 speakers, Magnetic Ride Control suspension system, Adaptive Cruise Control with four-color reconfigureable head-up display, XM Satellite radio, heated and ventilated seats, 18" polished wheels and DVD Navigation. All-wheel drive will also be available on the V-8 model at start of production.

I wonder if there's any chance that Chevy might get a version with the 5.3L featuring DoD? probably not...

That's not actually a bad price.

Buick's still pimping out V6 front drive cars that share parts with Bonneville for just about 40 grand.

I felt the same way... I think they are in a good range with their pricing.

I did not think it would be that 'cheap'. I was expecting 10 grand more! Great news!

definatly best for the Money, the base BMW 5 series engine is a 184HP 6 cyl. and the 325HP V8 stats at $55K. The Mercedes E class starts at $47K with a 221HP V6 and $56K with a 302HP V8

I wonder if it can wiggle an XV12 in there?

I'm seriously starving to see one of these XV machines in any GM vehicle, the world needs to see a HP 12+ cylinder engine that can still get 21+ MPG.

Compared to a loaded 300C at 37K, this doesn't seem like a great bargain.

The 300C doesn't even touch on the kind of infotainment/cool gadgetry the STS has. The STS is a definate bargain.

I just wanna go fast. The tech stuff is cool, but not for me. Give me a GTO or a Charger with the 6.1 Hemi.

There's a helluva lot more that matters to luxo customers than going fast in a straight line

Comparing a 300C to an STS is like comparing an apple to an orange...both are nice, but the STS is certainly a class above...and always will be.

Personally, I'm a little dissapointed in the STS styling. Whereas the CTS, SRX and XLR announce their presence quite loudly, to me the STS seems like the quiet 'smart kid' of the pack.

Anywho, compared to zee Germans (who nickel and dime people to death on options) it's not a bad price at all.
