Couple of Mustang 40th anniversary articles (good read)
I understand, and I didnt know about the C4? I was gunna buy my neighbors 87. Crap, Im gunna have 2 outcasts. See, when my dad got my car brand new in 87, there was no talk of that since the car was on the lot at 18.4k, and thats just for a Z28. The IROC's were flying off lots he said, and he couldnt make a deal with anyone. My dad was a VP of a large bank in the northeast. He used to drive with his boss who had a Porsche, and his boss loved the Z. Its really sad that 4th gens look down on other gens instead of just being cool to another Fbody owner.
Everyone here knows I'm not a 4th Gen fan, but when in person I seem to get along with 4th Gen and ANY Gen owners. Even if I don't like the car/Gen much, I still know a good amount all the Gens, even though I know more about 3rds. I have never heard a 4th Gen owner talk down a 3rd, instead I hear them give their own compliments to the cars. They seem to mostly really like 3rds. I went to some 4th Gen sites and did searches for posts having to do with anything 3rd Gen and I was surprised to see that practically every single mention of 3rds was positive and almost every single former owner wished they still had theirs and stated that they'd like to own another some day if possible.
I too never heard any of the idiotic Camaro stereotypes and whatever until I went to boards like this. And I still don't pay any attention to that nonsense because I know better and I'm also of an age higher than 4. Cars that are meant to have broad appeal attract all kinds of buyers, (same goes for cars like the M*stang) but I have never met a 3rd Gen/Any Gen owner that was of any negative internet stereotype. All Camaro owners/enthusiasts I've talked to in person have been cool people that like cool cars, regardless of Gen. As long as they like 3rds I can get along with them,
haven't met any yet that didn't.
I've always looked at the Camaro as a more exotic and classy car than the M*stang that usually attracts more "established" buyers. I also don't appreciate people saying that F*rd "won" this whole thing because we all know that it's not the truth in any way. The car was systematically taken out by it's own company and was still always the overall better car.

I also never see the whole 4th gen is better than the 3rd gen mentality at shows
. On the internet of course, but never in person. When the Worldwide Camaro Association was in town and hosting a big Camaro show, there were ALOT of 4th gen's, esp. SS's, but there was also a good number of 3rd gens too. Also they had special edition third gen police drag car (next to a "93 502 powered Z/28, very cool). It seems like the respect I saw was mutual. With me, third gens played a big role in me falling in love with Camaros. I loved first and second gens, but the third gen car was the car that just seemed to fit in with me. I loved everything about it, and while I own a 4th gen, I would love to own an early 90's 245hp Z28 someday. If there is bias towards a model in the Camaro community (and it exists in the Stang community too, btw) its against V6ers. Trust me on this, a Z/28 driver WILL laugh at a V6 with an exhaust system.
