CNN reporting that GM will kill off Pontiac
I'm beginning to like Mazdas and Fords more and more...scary...
Shhh, I traded my Formula in for an MX5.
Though had a girl from my class tell me she really liked it wanted to know what it was(mine is debadged), but then unfortunately she called it cute

what about the not cool Pontiacs?
I know its not the coolest, wife kind of wants an SUV type vehicle, and a Pontiac badged Chevy Equinox with 3.6L/6spd auto getting 20mpg city wouldn't be bad especially for rebates/haggles down to like $20k, or 1 year used ones for like $15k

GM Product Profile:
Chevy = entry, family and performance line. Badge the G8 as a Belair and keep the Malibu and Impala as they are since they are selling sorta well
Buick = mid level luxury line. Keep it for those who are not ready to step up dollars wise to Caddy and for the faithful geriatric set. Kinda the Mercury of the GM profile and doing very well in China.
Caddy = Top of the line luxury. Make every model rwd/awd high hp (supercharged?) V6 and V8. Dump the fwd platforms if you really are serious about playing with the Germans and premium Japanese (Acura is a wannabe). Maybe keep the 'Sclade wagons but dump the Avalanche upgrade.
GM Trucks = Drop the GMC line and market only as Chevys. Saves dealership costs, costs of producing side-by-side emblems and name-specific parts, marketing costs, etc. Ford does this--no Mercury or Lincoln LD Trucks (well, you really can't count the Blackwood) and Lincoln has only the Navi's SUVs while Mercury has the Mountaineer and Escape upgrade--all wagons which kinda fit with a sedan lineup.

Salvation, profit, and longer term viability for GM
