Bummer. I guess the Firebird is now really really dead. I honestly held no hope but the topic still comes up every once in awhile.

Hopefully they role the G8 over to a Chevelle or maybe even the Impala. Other than that there is not much on that line which is "driving excitement" to me.

Buick, Hummer, Saturn ...they're all toast. They can join Oldsmobile. GM's only gonna keep Chevrolet, Cadillac, and GM Trucks. Buick has to prove itself.

You can bet Ford is gonna dump the Mercury tag.

Look, there aren't any US car companies anymore. The F-body was built in Canada. The LS-1 block is cast in Mexico. Tremec is in Mexico. My Nissan was built in Georgia.

How much bailout do you want GM to move offshore to China? They're aren't cutting anything back with GM China operations. That subsidiary isn't for sale. What about GM's other foreign subsidiaries ro manufacturing plants? How much of the bailout money should keep those plants going?

Question..... is the price of G8s and other Pontiacs going to plummit? Maybe even the Torrent(even though its price already plummits on its own?)

Well, to look at it with a glass half full attitude, maybe we will be able to get some insanely good deals on used G8's and GTO's

I doubt Pontiacs will become cheap. If anything they would hold their value better.

Look at what happened to the Camaros/Firebirds in 2002/2003 when they were cancelled.

You can still find 2002s up here for $30,000 with low miles.

Yeah, there is a lot of love for RWD Pontiacs, unlike Oldsmobile. You are probably right.

I wonder how many years it will be before they go away 100%. I don't think G8 will become a Chevy. GM will wait for the all new 2012 Commodore before making it a Chevy.

Guess I should start keeping the G8 in the garage and drive the Camaro more often.

what about the not cool Pontiacs?

I know its not the coolest, wife kind of wants an SUV type vehicle, and a Pontiac badged Chevy Equinox with 3.6L/6spd auto getting 20mpg city wouldn't be bad especially for rebates/haggles down to like $20k, or 1 year used ones for like $15k

I thought they were going to become a niche of cars, like Scion is on the Toyota lots.

I have been under the impression that the G8, the Soltice and the Vibe were going to stick around. Given that the G8 is from Holden and the Vibe was done in concert with Toyota, I would think it would really only be the Soltice that would cost them that much money to keep around and further develop. Throw a turbo into the Vibe, and BAM! you have your "excitement niche."

And with Chevrolet killing off most of the SS versions on their other cars, plopping these on Chevy dealerships sounds like the thing to do to me.

Way to go GM. Pontiac was third in sales behind Chevrolet and GMC, yet you're keeping Buick? This is just ****ing pathetic.
