Its better then using the Subaru 4cyl turbo. For some reason that car and engine is really starting to wear on me.

I believe they sort of tried that with the Envoy XUV and it flopped.

No, with they Envoy they tryed a new formula and it flopped. They should have stuck with the pickup truck w/ midgate, not SUV with retractable roof. Envoy XUV cost as much as an Avalance too.

I don't know about that

Yeah I kinda agree, but the turbo will have a broader torque curve than the 3.6. And Saabs have always wanted turbos for their performance models so as falchuck says, it beats the 4-banger.

Why didn't they turbo the 3.6 V6 and get something in the neighborhood of 330+ horsepower.

It isn't that hard, Nissian got 300hp out of their twin turbo 3.0 V6 back in 1990. I don't see 100hp/liter being that difficult, especially with 4 valve heads and turbos.

I don't know why. Their fellow swedes (Volvo) have 300hp cars (S60R & V70R). But Volvo also makes wider use of AWD, something Saab doesn't really do outside of the rebadged WRX. None really wants a 300+hp Saab if it's going to be Fwd.

The turbocharged 3.6 would be pimp and Saab could use a high performance line. I like their newer stuff or the most part.

Look at the price on those turbo engines for their time. They were top tech and top money.
