I think so too. Otherwise they would have used some thing like a '70 Chevelle SS with stripes.

Maybe this ad is just the first in a series that will feature classic Chevy SS cars. To promote the "SS" sub-brand.

Exactly!

Man, I can't believe so many people are gripping about this.

I think it's great, and at least to me, it serves a dual purpose...

If this were NOT to be intended to promote the SS sub-brand, they might have used a 69 Z/28 instead... but the DID use an SS.

Think people, think! They don't spend all this money on advertising, and not carefully pick what they are showing.

I disagree. They would have used a Chevelle (the most popular SS car besides maybe the Impala) the same way they are doing right now on Chevrolet.com for the promotion of SS cars, not a Camaro with the words they used. Don't you think they would have said somthing specific about the SS name instead of focusing on the Camaro?!?! Its clearly about the Camaro and not what name is on it.

No, because you need to understand that Chevrolet's current marketing program is using lyrics from songs with their cars in it.

I can't think of a Chevelle song off hand, but I can think of a few Camaro songs.

Choosing that car, again, promotes the SS sub-brand. The whole Camaro teaser, is just icing on the cake.

Post a thread when they do another one of these with a non-SS Camaro. I think you'll be waiting until the 5th Gen gets advertised.

Look, they had 35 years of Camaro to choose from, and within that, many different models... it's NOT a coincidence.

We'll just have to see I guess. But I still think its not about the SS, hopefully.

Are we crossed up here?

By that repsonse, I take it you think I an talking about the SS concept car. I am not...

I'm referring to the roll out of the Chevrolet SS sub-brand... ie. Monte Carlo SS, Impala SS, Silverado SS, TrailBlazer SS, etc etc etc...

Anyway, I hope it's not just about SS as well.... I truely think this has a dual meaning.

thanks for the mindf*ck, GM Let a car die due to no advertising (among other things), then after it's dead, advertise a 35 year old version of that car.. allrighty then.

Anyone save the original pic that can repost it? URL is gone now, and I can only get to the photoshopped one.

This is definitive a hint.
If GM wanted to "sell" the SS cars, then why they choose a Camaro... is a dead car.. and then it says "we'll be there"
Even they add a Camaro Song
They could have other car, even GM knows that in the auto industry the demise of the Camaro was a BIG news... and is many people really want it back

For all of you guys, there is big HOPE HERE!
C A M A R O!!

well I trust people's posts on here so we know it's coming back, but there's no need for a total mind game 3 years ahead of time. I'm just glad they didn't use a 69 T/A instead.. that would've been a double insult, but not beyond their demonic ways.

thanks for the re-pic Doug

aside from any "subliminal" type messages GM might be using, did anyone consider that most non-car people would recognize a camaro over a chevelle or any other SS car? i mean, it's recognizable, more so than other SS models from the sixties/seventies.

I don't think they are advertising the SS brand name. I've seen a Cavalier ad done like this before as well, using lyrics from a Coolio song called "1234(Sumpin' New)". The specific lyrics were:

Ain't no party like a west coast party
'Cause a west coast party don't stop
So when you see a young brother
In a Chevy hittin' switches
Then ya gotta give a brother his props

The words in bold above were also in bold in that ad, in a neat artistic sort of way anyway.

No SS Cavalier ever been made that I know of. Wish I could recall which mag it was in, not sure. Think it was Sports Illustrated. Saw it while at the dealer getting the oil changed a couple of months back.

I think everyone is thinking way to much about this and seeing things that aren't really there. Might want to cool it a bit or you'll be like Z284ever.

I wouldn't mind having that car with those wheels even. Maybe I'm a redneck though!

Is kinda weird that they have a Camaro in an ad right now. It's hard to tell what in the world they are advertising. Interesting!
