Camaro ad

Anyone remmember the threads in which we discussed that GM was supposed to have a Camaro concept ready this year and that they could name it SS or Z28 to bypass the "gag" order?
I firmly believe this add confirms our earlier suspicions about the SS.

That being said.....I can't come up with any logical reason for this ad.....on this magazine (Newsweak) no less.....short of living on their past laurels.......

They are promoting the SS sub-brand.
Camaro SS is probably the most famous, (perhaps Chevelle SS, but I'd think Camaro) and it is a great way to promote the history of the SS.
The secondary reason could very well be a 'teaser' or at the very least, a way to keep "Camaro" on people's mind while it's gone...
We'd think Camaro because this is a Camaro website. But honestly, wouldn't Chevelle SS be a more fitting representation of the SS brand?
If GM is pushing the SS brand, why rely only on a single discontinued model?

Camaro is in the song, not Chevelle!
it's all a subliminal game!
They didn't show the whole car in the ad to symbolize the new one is not completely done yet...
They showed the SS to indicate that it will be the top-dog...
(along with the SS, The Impy SS, The Monte SS, Chevelle SS, Trailblazer SS, Suburban SS, Cavi SS, Tracker SS, the Kodiak C70 SS, the Maytag SS, and the...)
They chose to display the Weld Draglites to indicate that they will support aftermarket hardware...
The 1st gen idicates that they are going back to upright seating with a great panoramic view...
The window A/C unit behing the car indicates it will come with options - like A/C?...
The Ramones lyrics and the hot chick on the wall indicate you'll get "some" if you buy this car...
The 5 "ooh's" in the lyric highlighted in pink represents 2005 as the return date...
The "l'il" in the lyrics means overall wheelbase and overhangs will be reduced...
And the... oh nevermind.
I'm subliminally-challenged. It wouldn't work on me anyways.
But I still think this is a great sign - provided it was paid for and approved by GM Corporate Admin!
And not some rich guy with a bad sense of humor...

VERY SLY!!! You DAWG!!!
Me likey!
I get the impression that the person who chooses Camaros for GM ads is NOT a Camaro enthusiast.
You'd think that for this ad they'd choose some historically significant car.....or at least go with a current "Pro Touring" style Camaro...maybe even one done by someone famous like Troy Trapanier.
What we have here is probably the producers' neighbors, nephews' car. It has SS emblems, Z/28 stripes, late '70s Centerlines ..(which are not even flush with the wheelwells).
I could probably pick half a dozen better cars to use for a national ad, at any random cruise night.

The car used in the ad is just fine, gee whiz. F*cking get over it!!
I swear I don't understand how it is Ford can change engines in a mustang and offer all sorts of body styles, then set back while sales increase. Yet, someone starts a thread about how would it be if an Inline 6 gets puts put in a car, with loads of horsepower/torque, and the self proclaimed guardians of all things Camaro who wander this board have a heart attack.
But I guess that's what you get when you preach to the choir and the small group of in the box thinkers around here.
"Is that the best car they could find to show?" They aren't making a Camaro for lord knows how long and that's the worst thing you've got to say? Whatever...

Is that a bad idea?........
Nice add, looks to me like there saying the were there back then. Plain and simple, and since the had powerfull cars like the camaro in the past the'll have new ones in the future, not necessarily a 5th gen camaro (all though I hope I'm wrong).

Nobody else here needs to know about this OK?
They are gonna come out with a Kodiak similar to this 2001 model, but it's gonna have stripes, 6-disc CD, all buttons, rear tint, mufled hydraulics, leather, and special rims with 5-tone paint job and 2-peice center caps. I heard the rims alone are gonna cost $17.3 million to develop and produce.
They already come with 427ci gas burners and optional turbos for the diesels. A whopping 825 ft-lbs of torque! And you can get manual trannys with up to 10-speeds! If you thought 6 was good, you should try 10!!! There's also the A5 for the wusses. All these go-fast goodies are already available on the standard model, but they will be no-cost options on the upcoming SS. :insert sarcastic tone there: I haven't got any spy pics yet, but I'm looking... hard.

This things gonna make the TopKick look like it's been kicked!
They'll have guys begging to drive these things in quarry shifts, on plant sites, and in the construction business! I'm there - GM, don't forget the heritage stripes on mine!!!
