C6 Top Speed 186mph, 6.0L GTO, 05 1/2 Z06 427 "LS7"
Im not sure if he would want me telling who he is but try to trust me here that it is reliable. I will say is it comes from the same person who got the first 01 Cobra in the United states and who knew almost everything about the 03 cobra before many people. You can also find some articles about his work in 5.0 magazine. The information about the Boss is information that he shared with me recently that he just found out himself. Everyone can make the speculations that they want but "sit back and watch" is all I have to say.

I didnt say that SVT isnt going to be coming back ever but yes the Boss will be the top stang. The Cobra name is going to be for something else, im not sure what. He hasnt told me much about SVT our discussion was about the new mustang. Only thing he told me about SVT was that SVT was going away. He didnt say for how long. Perhaps it will be blended back into ford and still make the more performing cars just under the Ford name not SVT but that is just my speculation.
I forgot to mention that the Boss will be offered in a solid axle and automatic, more for the drag racers, and there is one change to the engine that it is supposed to be 3 valve instead of 4 but the power rating is supposed to stay at 500. It is basically going to be the new cobra but with the name Boss.

The entire SVT lineup will be nonexistant once the last Lightnings are finished within the next couple of months. Any new model that comes out between now and January 1st is labeled a 2005 model. There will be no 2005 SVT vehicles whatsoever (currently sold Lightning & Cobras came out last year, so they are 2004s).
SVT brings their versions of models out normally a year after a new model comes out (Cobra has skipped a model year 3 times in the past 10 years), typically once Ford's model change overs and initial demand is under control.
Also, about a year ago, SVT came under the Ford Performance Group umbrella (http://www.fordperformancegroup.com/), which was mistaken by many (including at least one person working at one car mag) as SVT being dissolved. Instead, SVT is still a separate organization & is still very much alive.
You informant misunderstood that 1 year laspe at SVT without a vehicle on sale as permanent, which I can assure you isn't, and/or misread SVT becoming a part of FPG as it's end, which it isn't.
SVT is actually seeing an expansion of it's vehicle lineup with not only a new Lightning & Cobra, but there is also going to be an SVT Futura, an expansion of SVT badged or prepared vehicles at Lincoln-Mercury (SVT formerly was a Ford-only brand), and there will also be at least 1 SVT "crossover" vehicle.
I don't believe your informant was "sprouting off", as some self-important people who really don't have a clue often do, I think he just misread alot of what he saw of what was going on.
It's relatively easy to contact the people at SVT, or have them contact you. They won't give you detailed information about upcoming models, but they will answer most questions you have about SVT.

BTW: The Mach1 was not put together by SVT. It was done by a different branch of the Ford Performance Group that deals with creating special editions. Items that SVT develops (like the Mach 1's & Marauder's DOHC V8 initially from the Cobra) ultimately end up in Ford's parts inventory & are available for use in other Ford vehicles.

It wasnt my informants misunderstanding but my mispost of saying SVT wont be back. It is my short term memory that gets me into some problems however the 06 Boss will have 500 hp or rather the same 5.4 supercharged engine as the GT which was my whole point and I got a little side tracked. If you would like to talk to him GuionM I can get an email adress for you and you only where maybe you will be able to exract better infromation from him than me. I am willing to do this because I trust your information more than most all.

I figured it was just something some troll was shooting off over at thecarconnection or something like that, thats why I asked. I didn't think it would be any "real" source.
LS2 GTO
I like how Chevy rates the C6 just below the C5 Z06 in every way 400hp vs. 405hp, 12.6 vs. 12.4, 4.1 vs. 4.0. I can wait to see the real track and dyno #'s. I bet the C6 Z51 is faster than the C5 Z06.
575HP seems like a big jump from the last Z06. The 427 can make that power no problem, but I just can't see the car rated that high. 427 =
Does anyone know if the 427 LS7 is a 3 valve engine????

If Ford cut all SVT spending and shut it down, I would be the happiest man alive. That day almost came when I heard that SVT was shutting down, but for a short time.

As for a 575 HP Z06, I'll believe it when I see it. Of course, I said the same thing about the '03 Cobras and sure enough they started coming off the line with blowers...
I just see insurance absolutely raping them. We'll see.

I don't see why you guys are believing this 575 HP stuff? Why would they raise the Z06 HP rating up 170 HP in TWO years?! And wheres the market for it right now? Theres absolutely no one else in that range right now that has any significant production #'s... If you guys think your going to see a 575 HP Z06 for less than $60K, your dreaming. My bet that this is about the blue devil, not the Z06. Its just not going to happen unless the next Z06 is marketed to a much fancier crowd. That is my common sense talking...
