Buickman:

I've been following this thread with interest. I'll take a look at your site and send you feedback (this is one of the things I do for a living). The opportunity for "the people" to be heard shouldn't be missed. I'd also be interested in getting a copy of those twenty points:jason.stoddard@centric.com

Are any members of this fine organization planning to attend the shareholder's meeting? It's June 7 Hotel duPont Wilmington, De, usually begins at 8:30. Must be stockholder of record by April 1, I believe.

Fbodfather is definately a stock holder. As would I guess GuionM is. I doubt either will attent as the 1st is rather busy all the time and the other lives on the opposite coast, not to say that he is not busy. I missed the deadline .

Buickman,

well one thing is timeline for new cars..its gotta be fast. 5 yrs is to long now a days to get a new car to market..

gotta find the competition..SSR? no competition. Mustang has none, DCX's RWD sedans. again none..late to market on the small pocket rocket craze with the Cobalt SS. Trailblazer SS..Lightning is cancelled..
It just seams like GM is tailing behind in things it should be leading in.

and not to be secretive about things..it should be shout out to the heavens that there doing this cus when it gets to market its going to be good..

Like tell people GM has a 2 door RWD coupe comming..dont hide it behind a curtain..

I think DCX is exploiting what American car companies need..there heritage..and for what its worth DCX is doing a good job of joggin memories...

GM should to..cus thats what sold cars and will sell these new cars..just look at the quote from my sig. from WERM.

well IM out to go eat..Buickman..all I can say is our voices need to be heard..US, not corperate lackeys..and get the ball rolling..that then will be the revolution..

Buickman...

Let's do a proxy count and determine how many here own GM stock of either variety. Optional to state how many shares.

Also a headcount of new GM vehicle deliveries!

Well over a hundred shares here, 29 new GM deliveries in my buying history. Presently 2 GM vehicles in the driveway, 2002 Z06, 2003 SIlverado.

Not a shareholder but a lifelong GM buyer. 3 new and 7 used.

NEW:
- 2004 Colorado ZQ8
- 2002 Trans Am Collector Edition
- 1996 Sonoma

USED:
- 1994 Grand Prix
- 1989 Blazer
- 1989 S-15
- 1988 6000
- 1980 Regal
- 1979 Cutlass Calais
- 1973 Grand Prix

I've never owned anything but GMs and prefer to keep it that way.

As Share Goes Bye

You must remember this,
A loss is just a loss,
The pie is still in the sky,
Fundamental marketing will apply,
As share goes bye.

And when Toyota's up by two,
We only get Daewoo,
On Rick Wagoner we can't rely,
No matter what the economy brings,
As share goes bye.

Rebates and confusion, way out of date,
Execs full of themselves, ready for their fate,
Buyers want self-image, hope it's not to late,
For it's that we must supply.

It's still the same old story,
The flight of sales and glory,
A case of change, or die.
The world will always respect a winner,
As share goes bye.

II.

You must remember this,
Their *** I will not kiss,
The numbers tell no lie,
Fun times do not apply,
As share goes bye.

And when we drop another two,
No one will say boo,
On just who can we rely?
No matter what Paul Ballew sings,
As share goes bye.

Plenty of new products, seen their next update,
Execs shuffled 'round, really same 'ol slate,
Buyers shopping elsewhere, regardless of the rate,
Competition stronger, that we can't deny.

It's really getting boring,
Toyota and Nissan soaring,
A case of reality defy.
The industry is losing it's leader,
As share goes bye.

Best played in S (as in sales) FLAT.

Re: Buickman will call for Wagoner's ouster at shareholder's meeting.

So many threads here making me laugh, am I in the right place?

Shouldnt we be talking about IRS versus solid axle or something?

I dont think I have ever seen a song posted here before, much less an ode to reform GM! Way to go B man.

I came back here at a good time.

Edit: "Buyers want self-image, hope it's not to late,
For it's that we must supply"

This is my favorite line, cuz its so true, but so overlooked. And it is exactly why so many people pay sticker plus for a nasty driving little car like the Prius. Every car in every line should be able to stoke its owners ego, make the owner happy they bought it, make them happy to get in it, every time. Dont get rid of brands, just give them each a mission.

Buickman, I think your new mission is more logical. The website is a great idea. It was prolly a bit unreasonable to hope that GM management would hire you, in effect so you could work towards firing many of them.

Your 20 points are good, and some here slam you that they are not enough to save GM by themselves, but I bet you have many more notebooks and floppies of other ideas as well, dont cha?

Here's one for you Buickman: what's it gonna take for GM to understand this is do-or-die time. This is the time they must deliver, in every sense of the word. They can no longer wow us with pipe dreams like the Cien, Sixteen, or Velite. Stop teasing. Bring something as sensational as that to the market, besides the Solstice, which is sensational, by all means, but isn't enough. One product is not going to save the largest automaker in the world, nor will relying on oversized, heavy trucks in a market desperate to move into more efficient products. Give us the cars we want, with the style, image, luxury, no-holds-barred, expensive/substantial-feeling vehicles. Ask this; why the hell does the CTS, by all accounts an exciting vehicle, come in a crappy old-man's puke green color that nobody but old people want, as confirmed by a dealer. Why do the CTS, SRX, and STS come with cheap wheels. Why doesn't the STS come with a screen standard; why is that horrific overly done alluminum trash even offered on the STS, when it should clearly come with wood standard and splashes of chrome throughout, as does every other luxury maker out there? Why must you cheapen every car you sell? I am sick of it. The Lacrosse does not need to come without chrome on the exterior, it looks like ***** without it, and sans chrome is NOT Buick. Why did the Cobalt only come out this year to be most likely overshadowed by a new Civic, new Sentra coming in a year, and let's not even imagine the Focus Ford will bring over on the 3/S40 platform, these cars will sadly relinquish the Cobalt to second-tier status. Why is the Malibu such a rental car in all respects, down to style-less gray plastic interior. Hey GM, can't you study interior design at other makers, I wouldn't care if you copied, just one look at a current Q45 or M45 would be a drastic wake-up call for your luxury interiors. Why does the Buick Lucerne have a relic from the past to ruin it's image, ruin it's market capibilities, and delegate it to rental-car status. Why the hell don't you improve on your engine power ratings and efficiency, especially in your six cylinder engines (290 hp in the G35 blows the CTS out of the water for a much lower price). Northstar engines will be lost in the next horsepower race. Why can you not be relentless like I am? Why can you not be passionate like I am? Why is Chevy design so muddled and un-American? Why did you sacrifice Buick and Pontiac for so long and not make them industry leaders? Why have you not observed the seemingly endless turnaround of all brands, Mazda, Nissan, Hyundai, Subaru, even Ford?? WHY MUST YOU REFUSE TO BE COMPETITIVE??? Do you really want to kill GM and all it's ever been? Even Bush recognizes you're not competitive, and he's not wiping a tear for you either.

Re: Buickman will call for Wagoner's ouster at shareholder's meeting.

Hey Buickman, does GM have someone in the corporation who specifically communicates with dealers? I think they need someone like you in that position. The dealer system is very flawed. I'm not sure how it is in Michigan, but here in Florida it's a total mess. Price fixing is common (a salesman told me all the Pontiac dealers in S. Florida agreed to do a markup on the GTO), and thus "market adjustments" are very common. Worse than that, most of the salesmen are extremely ignorant. I went to find information on the GP GXP a month ago, and the salesman told me, "There's no such thing as GP GXP," and continued arguing with me about this until I got fed up and left (can't wait to go back there now!).
Additionally, morale seems extremely low from what I can tell. The turn over is high - I go to a specific dealer every month or so and often find that the guy I spoke with last time is no longer working there. Beleive it or not, but when my dad went on a test drive and got into a conversation about work, the salesman in the car asked him if he had any openings for salespeople!
Perhaps the worst though is the way I've seen every dealer around here treat women. I managed to drag my mother down there once to look at the GTO when it first came out. We were in empty the showroom for 15 minutes before anyone addressed us, and when someone came, they spoke to me, the teenager, as if I were the decision maker. They spoke to my mother very condescendingly. It was pretty disgusting, and I don't think I would have beleived that stuff like that happens in the 21st century if I had not seen it myself.
It sounds like you've got a magic touch with dealership management, so why don't you try and get a semi-independent job with GM in which you act as a consultant, fixing broken dealers throughout America?
