I am not impressed with Buick at all, the jellybean Allure is a glorified Taurus. You can't even start comparing that to Lexus. I think it compares better to Camry, and Lucernce to Avalon.
Just my opinion, no need to start flame wars

While Lexus may not be a carbon copy of BMW when it comes to driving excitement, but it will take many years of hard work and detailed execution with full efforts (no dropping the ball half-way) on Buick's part to come to the level of Lexus.

I agree with them to an extent but I'm glad to see them allowing some models to branch out a little from the standard formula - like the IS.
I see, with GM, Buick as targeting Lexus, and Cadillac as targeting BMW. Lexus' IS is really the only car Lexus currently makes with its sites set directly on BMW. The rest of their models sort of ignore everyone else and just stick with what they know works.
What's surprising to me is that Lexus is finally stepping up in terms of power and performance. From 1990 to 2006, Lexus' UZ-series V8 has ranged from 250 to 300hp... that's 16 years and a slow increase of 50 horsepower.
Now in the span of 1 year their UZ is jumping 80 to 100 horsepower depending on model and for the soon to be hybrid as much as a 150 horsepower jump.
Not to mention the new IS, with a nearly 100 horsepower jump over its predecessor.
