If this is true, I really like that. Get rid of the Terraza, replacing it with absolutely nothing, and a Buick line up with the LaCrosse, Lucerne, Encalve and a Vellite-type (sp?) car would look pretty good.

 

27k would be a great starting price point but the bigger question is, what price will it be once equipped comparably to the standard equipment found on the RX330 (which starts at 36k)?

FWIW, the RX will also be getting a ground up redesign by 2008 based on the all new 2007 Camry/2006 Avalon Platform, and incorporating a 280hp 3.5L V6

 

Threxx, how about instead of seeing how you can think of Toyota 1 upping a car you just decide if you like it. Maybe talk about features you find appealing or appalling. How about you give it a chance instead of saying "Well in a few years Lexus will have..." besides you throw out the 3.5 V6 I see you and raise you a 300 hp OHC V8, available late in the 1st model year!

 

They are optional on the 2007 Tahoe.

#1- This car is directly intended to compete with Lexus - sorry for acknowledging the obvious
#2- I say what most others here don't know, or if they do know, won't admit/say. 27k starting price is great when compared to the RX which it looks like it's made to compete with, but how much will it cost equipped like seen in the pics? Again, I'm asking a question that needs to be asked. If this offends you, you might want to considering why it is you are offended? What am I doing wrong? Testing the bubble for leaks?
#3- The current RX will not be what this car is competing with if it comes out for the 2008 model year. That's another fact. The one weak point of the currnt RX is the crappy 3.3L V6 - it will not be there for the new one.

I'm stating nothing but facts and questions that need to be asked.

Sorry for not joining the circle-jerk head-on even though I did say it looks very nice and is the first Buick I've seen so far that I believe will compete well with Lexus. I'm being nothing more than honest, and my honest opinion is that this looks like it's going to be a really nice car that will be able to compete.

 

 

I was just asked to stop comparing this car to its competition. Yes, I upset somebody by actually talking about what this car will be directly up against. How much more circle-jerkish can you possibly get?

It's almost as bad as when we had people whining that posting the GM truck recall in the vehicle news section was 'off-topic' when only a week earlier they'd been right along with everyone else in a Toyota truck recall thread in the same forum without a single complaint about it being off topic.

I won't take offense at all if I post the new RX a year from now and people start comparing it to the Buick Enclave. I don't see why the opposite should be such a great offense.

Fully equipped, with the new V8, I will guess UNDER $38K. It may not have bluetooth or 1 or 2 little features that the magazine guys and asian 'circle jerk' guys love BUT it will be a better car at the same or less money! That is why it will sell.

My point Threxx is that you don't know what the new RX will cost either. You don't know that the Enclave will not best the Lexus in EVERY category. Both are not in production. We have seen 1 in 95% pre-production trim the other we know NOTHING about. So WHY try to make it seem like the Lexus is better than the Buick?! We don't know jack SH*T about the Lexus and aren't likely to for another year. Both cars will be 2008 models. Both will be unibody crossovers. The Enclave is likely MUCH larger, and from what we know from insiders will have a feature we know the RX will not have (V8 option). So why try to come on a domestic board and make it seem that the Lexus it better? Are we trying to justify a bias that we hold in our hearts? Or do we just have nothing better to do that to try to seem better than others, which most Lexus owners think they are.

 

Absolutely correct. But if all you can tell me is that it might start as low as 27k but you can't tell me what it will come with standard and what options will cost, then that doesn't give us any way to guess about bang for the buck compared to even the current RX, much less a future model. My statement was in affect saying "that's nice but it doesn't give us much to go on" which you seem to have missed that point entirely and in turn ended up telling me, in different words, what I was trying to tell you.

Which was not a comparison, it was simply me saying that the RX will be different than it is now by the time the Enclave comes out and also stating the change in motor. For those who were not aware.

 

Honesty, Threxx, I don't care if you compare the vehicle to a competitor... though most, if not all of your posts will imply that a current, or future import will be superior in the end.... that's your opinion, and that is fine by me...

Legitimate questions are not stated rhetorically, and that's what I got. A rhetoric question that in effect was complaining that I was insinuating that the RX was a better car, which I never did. I simply acknowledged what the Enclave would be seeing as its competition.

I really don't see how 'circle jerk' is any more inflamatory than when I'm called an 'import humper', 'lexus snob' or any of the other interesting comments I hear constantly. But I am used to 1-way treatment so I don't typically complain. Just something you might want to be aware of.

The rhetorical thing is getting rather ticky-tacky. He had a point... it is possible to look at any given vehicle, and simply state what you like about it and what you don't.

I don't agree with you being flamed by others either..... but, "Lexus Snob" and/or "Import Humper" are not really on the same level as slapping "Circle-Jerk" on a group of people in the thread.

Add that to the fact that you use it over and over again... heck, it's become your trademark phrase.... do you really want "circle-jerk" to be the first thing people think of when they see a post from you?

 

Sure it's possible, but why should it be preferred or required of me?

It's possible for me to simply look at the Treo 700w pda phone I just got and tell you what I like about it and don't like about it, but it'd be better yet if I put it in relative terms to the other phones out there. "Good" may not be "good enough" when compared side by side with another phone.

But in this case we're talking about two cars that haven't even come out yet, so instead of talking about a hypothetical comparison I just said 'I think it'll be competetive from what I've seen, but we have yet to see the RX that it will be competing with. All I do know for sure is that the RX will be replacing the outdated 3.3L with the new 3.5L'. That is NOT a statement saying anything is better about anything. It's just a statement of future outlook.

Sheesh.

 

How about a happy compromise ... just quit saying "Circle Jerk"....... at least for a while??
