For anyone who actually cares what is said during Nascar telecasts...
No, not in the traditional sense..they don't compete with their bodies. But if you don't think they are fit, you're a moron. 500 miles flat out bunched with 42 other cars is going to drain you. Most of these guys have personal trainers, workout programs, diets, etc.
I don't watch it much anymore either, it's become too commercialized, too generic and that's boring.
Altough some tech gradually filters down into real cars, most guys I know, know these are cutom built tube chassis, full race cars with nearly stock dimension skins.
As for Toyota in NASCAR...it's a driver competition, not car...even the engines have to put out near the same power.
Remember when the Monte Carlo new bodies caused a big stir...about having an aero advantage, NASCAR made them modify it to level the field.
If people think a car winning a race has anything to do with the production car being better, they've got bigger problems....
I'd like to see a new series where they use real modified stock cars again..

I was hoping that Kurt would win it. Than he got caught up in Tony's mess and flushed that down the toilet. I too was hoping that Mark would finally get that win. I was thinking that it probably would have been like when Dale Sr. won his only one, but alas it wasn't meant to be. Sometimes I wonder where the sport would be if Dale hadn't passed. Oh, and for the record I don't care much for DW(or Toyota in NASCAR for what its worth), but atleast DW does make it interesting to watch the race on TV.
Well, maybe when Martin was sponsored he'd be like, "hey watch this" prior to the race, then on the after-race interview (4 hours later) he'd still be pitchin' a tent....
Nascar sucks, I have lost all interest in everything about it and how many times did DW mention that the Camry is built in Georgetown, KY. It seemed like every time someone brought up Camry DW would chime in. I watched a little bit of the race to see how it looked in HD which was pretty cool.
By the way if I started a thread like this, it would have been booted to the lounge after about 5 mins.

I don't care for Nascar, but was forced to watch here at work. One thing I can't get over is the shameless promotion of the sponsors. For example, you can't say "the car is really running good", its "The M&M Ford Fusion is really running good". And when you win the race, and you want nothing more than to chug a Coke (probably because he'd been staring at that Coke patch sewn on his firesuit right below his face for the past 3 hours), you cant just drink it, you have to hold it in just such a way that the COKE is perfectly framed right between your fingers. Also, it seems you're only thirsty for COKE when the camera is in your face, because you only take hits from it during your inteview, not after you walk off (but the camera is still on you).
Oh oh, and also if your the Home Depot guy, when you get spun out, you and the MONTE CARLO are just fine, and you thank all 500,000 home depotans for all their support, and pledge to "get em next year".
Hilarious.

My mom told me that one reason you were going to see a lot of people drinking coke on camera for the Daytona 500 is because Coke said they'd donate an amount of money for each time a driver took a drink on camera. Sure it's about advertisement, but they're also doing it for a worthy cause at the same time.

Well that's nice if that's the case, but it's a good thing the drivers can keep their wits about them after winning the Daytona 500. It would be kind of sad if that in the spirit of the moment, that they forgot to drink some Coke, that the kids missed out on some extra $$.
