I must be few of the people that like the current formula of the Silverado SS. Actually, I wish they would make a bigger cab (crew cab? i forget the terms) version with a shortbed.. More power (400 hp at least), with AWD. and 6 speed auto... and at least the same price if not cheaper.. (say, $38k).. with a really nice upscale interior thats a bit differnet than the rest of the line up.. And have it still be able to have good official payload and towing capacity, like the current SS..

I like the current one as well...

Sure, it could handle a power boost, but the ext cab / AWD is great, IMO... I would not be opposed to a crew cab version either.

If I wanted to buy a car for just a weekend hotrod, it wouldn't be a truck. It'd be a Corvette.

If I want a fun , all weather, yet still fast and practical everyday vehicle.... Silverado SS fits the bill.

Are the Silverado's and Sierra's getting redone as well for '07? If so, I haven't seen any pics yet. I've seen the Tahoe and Yukon/Yukon Denali in person, and the Escalade online, but I haven't seen anything on the trucks.

I just priced a Silverado 1500, regular cab, with 5.3 and 5 speed manual for (red tag) $15,963.

BTW, 2007 Tahoe info is up on Chevy's website.
A couple months back we bought one of our employees a 05 GMC Sierra, short box, regular cab, 5.3L, 5 speed and no options besides AC. That truck was fast, and fun, before I drove that truck around I always wondered why people bought those little trucks and modded them, but now I know. I almost wanted to give the employee my truck (03 4x4 ext cab Sierra, with full load) and keep the new one for my self it was that much fun. That little truck would get third gear rubber, not just a little chirp, but a nice long patch, although the rear is pretty light.

See, now that truck seems more fun to me than the current Silverado SS.

I have a 03' Z06 for my weekend hotrod, just wanted a RCSB SS for my daily
driver hotrod to enjoy during the work week. The current RCSB Z-71 daily driver does not have the "fun factor" that a RCSB SS would have. There are some of us that would like to drive sporty vehicle to work and have another
for the weekend. Hope Chevrolet will some time make that truck. Patiently
waiting, since I saw the RCSB SS back in 02' at the Woodward Dream Cruise
and also at SEMA. SWEET TRUCK!

Re: Any word on the GMT900 Silverado SS?

I saw my dream "Silvy SS" the other night.
It was a 2wd, 5.3 295hp V8, regular cab, short bed, 17 inch wheels, 3.23 posi rear, suspension upgrade, leather wrapped steerng wheel, XM, dual zone climate control, 4spd auto, and all for a red tag sale of 21.5k.
Put the SS body kit on it and some better tiers (crappy Conti SUV tires) and Id be in sports truck heaven

I made a mistake, the truck we bought only had the 4.8L V8, now I wonder how much more fun it would be with the 5.3, but the 4.8 is up to 285HP now, so it nothing to sneeze at.
