Severence and job placement packages are the norm for non-minimum wage and low level jobs at large companies and corperations.
I personally know at least 3 people whose company closed up shop in one state and moved to another and gave employees the chance to move (all expense paid) or to take a severence package. One friend's package equalled 1.5 year's pay plus the continuation of their medical coverage at the same premiums for at least that same time. The other one recieved 75% pay (also for a year or so if I remember) and a lump sum payout. Neither were union.

And if you think companies are going to keep up the 2 years of handouts in the current economy . . .
The only guide you need to follow in an At Will state like Florida is that you cannot terminate a person's employment for discriminatory reasons.
Only two years? Some companys give you much more. A friend of mine who was an engineer for PG&E a few years ago, got laid off and his package was basically 3-years pay. He had worked their less than 10 years.
