I've got a friend working at the Ram/Dakota plant in Detroit and he's very worried.

I know someone that took a $70,000 buyout to retire last summer, looks like a good move.

Not a good move for a company that was arguably the weakest of the D2.8 when it comes to engineering and program managment.

Death spirals are painful to watch from front-row seats.

Chrysler is done. You can use their "lifetime" warranty to wipe your azz. Out of 34 nameplates that Consumers Reports ranks in reliability, Chrysler is 32nd, just ahead of Saturn and Land Rover. Dodge is 30th and Jeep is 28th. Good job Cerberus, you finished off what Diamler started.

All of the job cuts are from Michigan facilities. Auburn Hills HQ, Plymouth rd offices in Detroit, Chelsea proving grounds, and MOPAR offices in Center Line. Michigan is well on its way to 10% unemployment.

Chrysler has 17,332 white collar employees. If 5000 are cut, its closer to 30%. The number of Chrysler contract employees is unknown.
