Lets see, I could buy:

BMW X3, X5,X6

Honda Civic, Accord, Pilot, Ridgeline (but those are F***ing ugly)

Hyundai Sonata, Santa Fe

Mazda: Mazda6

Mercedes M, R or GL series

Mitsubishi Galant, Eclipse or Endeavor

Most Nissans and the Infiniti QX56

Subaru Legacy or Outback

Toyota Tundra or Camry

Honestly I'd rather put my money in the hands of the factory workers than the white collar D bags responsible for the companies decline.
Too bad that money has to go thru the UAW
mustang?

If GM and Ford go under, we may all soon be buying cars made in China when it becomes cheaper for all the other manufacturers to move production outside North America because the supply network has collapsed and closed shop here as well.

I for one wouldn't have an issue of buying a Camaro built outside North America provided it was still a Camaro and there was no other option.

I don't even like coming in this forum on the board anymore, it's just too depressing.

FWIW, I am beginning to believe there's no way the US government lets any of the Big 3 go under. Only time will tell.

I'll believe G.M. produces a $50K, LS9 equipped Camaro when I see it. I'm betting that with the current fiscal situation that that projects going to go on an indefinite hold. This also further highlights just how expensive these AFFORDABLE muscle cars are getting! What used to be the selling point of the F-Bodies was that they offered 90% of the Corvettes performance at 50% of the 'Vettes price! Thereby putting high performance within the reach of the common man! And for those that only wanted the looks the base car was pretty basic BUT came with a mile long option list so you could customize the car to suit yourself. Which, incidentally, is something that the younger buyers today STILL like to do! That's why those boxes that Scion sells are so popular. They're cheap & you can customize them right off the order form!

Maybe I’m just being to pessimistic but I am beginning to believe that if GM or Chrysler or Ford don't go under; a lot of the vehicles they will be selling in the U.S. will be made outside of the U.S including China.

It makes me sick to my damn stomach what is happening. Not just as an enthusiast, but as an American.

Yeah it's sickening! The irony for me, is that GM is the best in dam business and Americans are just too bloody stupid to realize it, even at a time when GM performance has never been better!

Good luck with that, I cant count how many times I've read a comment on how "I'm going to the other camp because my <insert pony car> doesn't come with <insert hi-tech feature>"

Not to mention the occassional post here and on a Mustang site lamenting the fact that niether Pony car comes in AWD, 4WS, DSG, Active suspension format.

Then again, I'd say we as a society have been conditioned to always go for the BBD (Big Better Deal)... upgrade, upgrade, upgrade...

i'm one of those that thinks pony cars should come with "high" tech stuff but at the same time i think they should be "basic" too. to me a car like the camaro or mustang are "lifestyle" cars and should be everybody. i also think all the stuff should be optional.

It wasn't all that long ago that the 4th Gen was being bashed here as being nothing but an 'engine in a box' by so many members.........

I can agree on hi-tech gadets, but I think when you start wanting something technically akin to a Evo-X, GT-R or 911 Turbo they cease being pony cars and are something entirely different.

I agree, and it's a shame. I fully understand, these are trying times for the US auto industry. A lot of mistakes have been made, by a lot of people. But I still believe in the basic hardworking grit of the American worker and the technical teams here. I believe there are better times ahead for domestic carmakers. Don't let the usual small band of cynics posting in this forum section get you down. They shouldn't be running free here, spinning their endless tales of woe, but oh well.

Me, I guess my job is to be that annoying dissenting voice of optimism
