After 8 years on this board...what an ironic time this is...
My anecdotal "no-strippers" evidence:
My wife and I have a Solstice ZOK which is a "stripper" with suspension, ABS and posi. We ordered in July, had no TPW by the next January and finally canceled the order and then found one in dealer inventory 1 country and half a continent away. From what we heard, they finally did a run of 5 ZOKs in July. I think that gives a pretty good indication of just how popular stripper cars are.

In fact, the GTS model offered from 94 thru 96 came WITHOUT power windows OR power locks! When the GTS model was discontinued in 96 it was replaced by Package 248A and continued through the '99 MCE.
The car above... PERFECT PACKAGE IMO.
V8, 5-spd, manual everything, stereo, defroster, and wheels.

WHY can't this be offered today?!?!

PS - the keen eye will notice basic upgrades like the cold air pack and the cap/wires.
YES - they have moissed-out on some sales from me.
Based on some peoples line of reasoning the Mustang GT shouldn't exist. Their train of thouht dictates that Ford should only be offering he base V-6 & the high zoot GT500 & that their dealerships should be full of unsold GT's because there's no market for a low cost, low content(though not "no content") V-8 car!

Mustang V6 vs. Camaro V6
Mustang GT vs. Camaro SS
Mustang GT500 vs. Camaro Z/28
thats what matters. do they ever say "i'll give you $x for it" or more "man i'd love to buy that from you" comments"?
Oh yes indeedy-doo!

but you just admitted ford stopped in 99 building those kind of cars....so for 9 years now you can't get a "basic" mustang either.
Heck, I'm down-right pizzed about it, and that's why I'm voicing myself here/now as well as every chance Ford gives me. I'm also advocating the same for the Camaro.
Ponycars are NOT meant to be tech-beds or luxobarges IMO.
Ford and GM would just LOVE to think that the most recognized names in automobile history can sell themselves at sky-high prices because of fan loyalty, when the fact is that what made them so successful in the past was their simplicity in the first place.
My father-in-law has simply said "find me one" (he has the dough - no problem).
Average folks at the gas stations and such - it's maybe 50/50. Some go so far as to talk money, the rest simply comment on the car and ask what mileage I get and how long I've had it, etc. Part of that depend on whether I'm in a hurry or have time to chat too.
You point is indeed well-taken. My point is that I simply get more interest in this car nowadays than I got in the 5.0s and older iron in years gone by. I simply think folks are going back to simple ways for simple tasks.
Chris in Maintenance offered me $1500 on the spot for it, and wants me to help him find one since I won't sell either of mine.

Well when GM and Ford go under maybe I'll actually buy a car that was made in America (since as you all know our cars are Canadian)

Lets see, I could buy:
BMW X3, X5,X6
Honda Civic, Accord, Pilot, Ridgeline (but those are F***ing ugly)
Hyundai Sonata, Santa Fe
Mazda: Mazda6
Mercedes M, R or GL series
Mitsubishi Galant, Eclipse or Endeavor
Most Nissans and the Infiniti QX56
Subaru Legacy or Outback
Toyota Tundra or Camry
Honestly I'd rather put my money in the hands of the factory workers than the white collar D bags responsible for the companies decline.
Too bad that money has to go thru the UAW

EDIT: Missed the GM and Ford part, so I apologize for my ***-like reply, but you still could buy a Chrysler product in that scenario.
