In addition to LS and GT, Ford kills Sport-Trac.

The GT is no surprise. Ford has said from the start that it will be limited to a 2 year run. But the SVT Sport-trac cancellation is a major blow. It had the makings of an excellent performance utility vehicle. 4 doors, a usable bed, AWD, 390hp/390lb-ft Supercharged previous gen Cobra engine, great looks, etc... This truck was making me forget about the Lightning.
2 questions now remain in mind....
1) Is Ford still as serious about a potential GT replacement?? With the Cobra and GR1 concepts basically using the same platform/chassis, suspension, brakes, and many of the components as the GT, it probably wouldn't take a whole lot of effort to get either GR1 or Cobra into production. Ford dropped alot of hints that they were seriously thinking about them, but i don't know now. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to put all that effort into the GT (all new platform, all new production methods, all-new parts, etc....) only to cut production after 2 years and build nothing else off all that investment.
2) With the SVT sport-trac being canned, does this mean that the L is back on?? Maybe they don't want the 2 to overlap market wise and they figured the L with its history and solid rep in this sports truck market was better off being the sole sports truck from Ford??
