5.6L is dead.... Nissan Titan will be getting a Hemi
Engine talk & quality aside, Nissan is taking a bath on their Titan.... a bloody bath.
The reason why Nissan hooked up with Chrysler is that there was no way for them to justify and finance a new full size pickup in a US market where pickup truck sales imploded. Add into the mix that truck sales will soon be included in with CAFE with cars and Nissan had their backs against the wall. On one hand, pickups are still strong selling vehicles in the US, but on the other, with sales falling back on people who at least occasionally need a pickup truck, they tend to choose traditional US brands.
On Chrysler's end of the stick, they not only get to keep their truck plants operating at near capacity (lost sales made up by making Nissan's version) but they also gain a quality platform for the Dodge Hornet (to be made on the Versa platform in Japan) and possibly the Chrysler Sebring's replacement as well (Maxima's platform, but made here in the US).

Yeah and I love the hemi.............but it was a great truck. To me it was the most fun truck on the market. It might not have been a domestic brand but it was designed and made here by people that knew what made a great truck.
