5.6L is dead.... Nissan Titan will be getting a Hemi
Isn't the Titan pretty much not going to exist soon enough anyway? Just going to be a rebadged Ram? I guess this is the first step in that direction? It's funny though... the 5.6 V8 in the Titan is pretty much the ONLY thing that I liked about that truck.
edit... I read the article... so this IS the rebadged Ram version of the Titan... well no wonder. I'd have been surprised if they kept using the 5.6, really.

The Titan's endurance V8 was a very good motor saddled with electronic nannies. That motor had unlimited potential and was the main selling point for Nissan since their quality was so ****ty. Unfortunately I had one and it rode great and was comfortable you just couldn't live with the bad build quality, the squeeks, the rattles and window motors that might work unless it's raining. No locking diff without 4x4 = I can't get to where I need to hunt and don't want a 4 wheel drive. Chevy seems to have it right, give the people a 2wd with a locker and it can go 90% of the places a 4x4 can.

However, it still is the strongest BASE MODEL engine in any full-size truck!
I'm still thinking that Nissan should've put the 4.0L V6 from the Frontier in the Titan as the base engine. (And the Titan's V8 in a NISMO Frontier!)
Engine talk & quality aside, Nissan is taking a bath on their Titan.... a bloody bath.
The reason why Nissan hooked up with Chrysler is that there was no way for them to justify and finance a new full size pickup in a US market where pickup truck sales imploded. Add into the mix that truck sales will soon be included in with CAFE with cars and Nissan had their backs against the wall. On one hand, pickups are still strong selling vehicles in the US, but on the other, with sales falling back on people who at least occasionally need a pickup truck, they tend to choose traditional US brands.
On Chrysler's end of the stick, they not only get to keep their truck plants operating at near capacity (lost sales made up by making Nissan's version) but they also gain a quality platform for the Dodge Hornet (to be made on the Versa platform in Japan) and possibly the Chrysler Sebring's replacement as well (Maxima's platform, but made here in the US).

Not trying to be a jerk but the right tool for the right job.

That can't be a bad thing for the Titan.
