I guess it is pretty easy to tell who are not classic car enthusiasts on this board.

I don't think it's fair to generalize who is or isn't a classic car enthusiast just because some people don't see the big deal about a Hemi in a 4 door.
But whatever, maybe I'm not.

Why didn't they just transport the Engine? Wouldn't that have been easier? Maybe the install would be easier in Detriot? Hmm.

Re: 4 door Hemi.

The car is rare, but is it desirable? For instance, I am sure there are some rare base model Mustang/Camaro/Firebirds out there, but no one cares since it isn't one of the performance model(s), and in this case, the 4 door isn't as desireable as the 2 door would be...

There haven't been many 4 door cars in history I even had/wanted to take a double take of... Not saying they can't be fast, its just for the most part, they don't interest me. I hope the guy gets what its worth, and the new buyer is 100% happy with his decision!

I would guess that since the other 3 that are known to exist won't be sold, after this auction, this one will be treated the same way.

Re: 4 door Hemi.

If anyone is interested:

1.) I didn't get to drive the car (I was in a '69 4 speed 396 Camaro)
2.) That car got to around $600,000 (or so, maybe the high $500.00.) and didn't sell.
3.) Someone bought a collection of 5 Yenko cars as a collection (meaning they sold all five together not individually) for $1.75 million. I didn't get within 20 feet of those cars after they were sold.
4.) I was is a '70 LS6 Chevelle that sold for $95,000.
5.) dispite driveing 12 '69 Camaro's and being around two dozen or so more, I still think making the 5th gen a retro copy of a '69 the dumbest route to go.

By retro do you mean? I would like it to have retro cues in the design like nice curved rear quarters like 1st gen. And possibly a hideaway headlight grille. Things to remind you of the past but not to make you think that it is an old car. Some of the drawing look sweet as hell. With the four round tailights from the Tigershark Vette of the C5s. Also a link from 4th to 5th gen.

By retro I mean if it takes the Mustang/GT/Beetle/PT Cruiser/etc route.

There's retro, and there's retro cues. There is a difference and (IMO) its a mighty big one.
