You think you'll be seeing LS2 GTOs by the end of this year? Keep dreaming. More like NEXT summer.

The GTO has....
90 more HP this year, 100 more HP next year
IRS
T-56 6 speed manual
Better interior
Better build quality
smoother ride
more interior room (except trunk, mustang wins by 1 cu. ft.)
The only think it doesn't beat the GT on is price, but since you get soo much more, the cost is justified.

Yes I am. And why on earth do you think the LS2 will be in the GTO by the end of this year?
As to the list. It's shaping out to be fairly certain that:
-The '05 GT will outrun the LS1 GTO. That will be the choice on
dealer lots come this winter
-So what about the T56? The problem with previous 5spds is they
were too light duty. The Tremec 5spd is as tough as the T56
-has at least as good an interior
-top build quality if the new F150 is any indication
-GTO wins smoother ride via IRS against solid axle
-interior room will be roughly equivalent.
-a far more usable trunk than +1 cu ft would indicate
Just to see if blue oval loyalty is just as blind as bowtie, I posted an interesting question over on Brad barnett's forum.

And yes it is.
If the 2005 GTO has the LS2, you can assume it will be out when the 2005 Mustang is.
Why try to compare the 2005 Mustang to the 2004 GTO?
Compare the same model years (2004 vs 2004 and 2005 vs 2005) , and everything is fair.

I was shopping with somebody else's money, and had to buy from an abbreviated list!

Seriously, I hold nothing against the GTO's capability, performance, or quality. My only problem is it's name.
IMO, it would be kinda cool to buy a GTO, and take off the badges and replace them with mail-order "Monaro" badges from down under! That would stir some conversations at a cruise-in, eh?
