2011 Mustang GT, 26mpg highway
How many owners actually race a brand new car? And even those that do, aren't they usually modified anyway?
Just asking, as I don't know anyone who buys new cars to race. When I buy a Camaro it will be because I love how it looks and drives, not whether it can get to the next stoplight 0.01 seconds faster than a Mustang.
The most important thing camaro needs to do, is get 16-30 year old girls/women excited about the car
Those are some nice numbers for the Mustang, but I'd like to see higher city numbers for both cars, that's what I drive 95% of the time.

Kudos to Ford. They did what they needed to do to improve the Mustang to be just a bit better than the Camaro. Lets see if it translates into sustains sales and rights their ship as 2010 wasn't a good year for the segment leader.
I'm looking forward to the road tests of the '11 GT. I think it's going to be good but get real impressive in the hands of enthusiasts.

I'm thinking that things like poor outward visibility and large percieved size might turn off some females (males too). IOW, all the Prada badging in the world, isn't probably going to make the 5th gen popular with the gals.
Very nice, I'm quite surprised the manual got better mileage than the automatic as that is not the norm these days. Especially considering how aggressive the gearing is on the new 6-speed.
With the nice improvements to the GT500 in 2010 and again in 2011, the very nice new interior for all Mustangs in 2010, and now the new powertrains for the Mustang and Mustang GT in 2011, Ford is really raising the bar.
I think this is going to put a hurt on Camaro sales. I know I never personally considered the Mustang because of the lack of power. That is no longer the case and I would seriously consider one now.
I am very curious to see how strong the all new transmission is and how well the Mustang hooks up the power. I think the driving dynamics will be there.
Oh, and I am also hoping the 2011 GT500 drops the 07-09' GT500's down into the $20k's in a short time!!!

Nobody will believe you that that archaic solid axle will put IRS cars to shame in the real world.
But since you're a magazine test fan ONLY...
Yeah, cause most people walk around with their heads up their ***...........
I think most people are swayed by the truth. Or maybe everyone thinks the Charger out performs the 4th gen fbodies? Its IRS right?
What's performance got to do with civilized real world driving manners? The BMW M3 is IRS right?
Seat of the pants....
I've driven a Mustang GT (the old one with the 4.6) and a Camaro SS. Seat of the pants, I have to say that I prefer the Mustang.
IRS is only as good as the bits around it. Comparing Camaro SS to BMW M3 simply because they both have an independent rear suspension is kind of like comparing Kirstie Alley to Carrie Underwood, simply because they have the same parts.
But I can't comment as I haven't sampled the Mustang or Camaro, it''s just that every 'traditional' American car has its flaws and the Mustang's happens to be its humble ride.
Anyway, you only concern yourself with weight statistics, that's your only measure for everything.
