Wow, I'm a Mustang guy now (granted I do own a 67). Actually I drive a Subaru everyday. Point is, the Mach1 wins PERIOD. But kudos for the GTO being so close. Geez, I could use a really cheesy F&F line here, but I wouldn't stoop so low.

Thats such an ignorant staement, it nosed out the GTO in ET with a better 60' time in an article writen in a Mustang magazine. No one can be that stupid, you are more intelligent than that because I have read many of your other posts.

The Mach does not "win". Did you read that article and what the others have posted? Get someone who can launch the GTO and it wins trap speed and ET. Has anyone gone 13.1 in a BONE STOCK Mach 1? Because SLP did it in a BONE STOCK GTO. The cars are very very equal with the slight advantage going to the GTO, not the Mach 1. Any intelligent car guy will interpret those 1/4 mile timeslips and come to the same conclusion. Jeez.

 

I believe it turned a 13.13@105.5mph in an earlier MM&FF test (heard it is same car). I believe 5.0 mag got something like that as well. Motor Trend also reeled off a 13.23@106.7mph. So it has done 13.1 or close to that in 3 separate occasions that I can recall.

In the end, it is very much a drivers race.

 

They also put drag radials and went 12.9x in Mach 1 - pretty impressive.

edit: but they also got 12.97 out of stock SS with normal tires - even more impressive.

 

Didn't they go as fast as 12.8's on a stock SS once or do i have some other car in mind??

 

LOL, you're not as laid back as I am apparently. It's not really that ignorant of a statement (as it's actually informed), but it is rather blunt which some people don't like. I can see you are getting the Big Als Z attitude that some of the younger crowd here have. Just chill and you'll see I'm not that "ignorant" and a fairly decent guy.

BTW, as I recall, in one of the articles I read, they iced down the GTO's intake in order to get its fastest time (and not the Mach1's). Like RiceEating5.0 said, it's a driver's race. On average and with equal drivers, I would expect Mach1's to beat most GTO's at the strip.

Oh, one more thing, I wasn't the one that posted the crazy Mustang GT price with thousands in shipping charges and claiming that the GTO was the same price...but that's ok, I know the difference

 

In the article I posted, they did NOT ice down the intake of the GTO. Your statement is not informed, you right away tried to bash what I posted instead of ACTUALLY READING IT.

You might make fun of Big Al Z, but you're doing the same thing you claim he does. Funny how even after showing you an article where the cars were neck and neck you refuse to let go of the fact that you think the Mach1 would beat the GTO.

Let me guess, you're friends? BTW, the Mach1 can and does beat the GTO so I'm not seeing why you're so upset about it. The whole point that brought this up was one person refusing to believe the Mach1 "beat" a GTO. I'm not the one being uninformed nor trying to redefine what a word means. Nope, actually I don't personally know Big Al Z. I'm not upset at all, I just find it funny that even with test results from the same drivers on the same day, you still refuse to believe they'd be an even match. Have you even read the article? Because you sure act like you haven't. You seem to have this need to prove the Mach1 can beat a GTO...

I just don't think you're reading what I'm typing. I said that I thought it was a driver's race. That's a fairly even match. However, I also give the edge to the Mach1. If you disagree, that's ok.

 

You make me laugh. At first the Mach 1 won PERIOD, now its a drivers race and either car could win.

Nothing bad about my GT pricing post, many respected people have agreed that a loaded GT will probably be 27-28k and can be optioned upwards of 29k. Those are Bob Cosbys words. I was merely surprised at those prices as I expected the Mustang to be cheaper, for whatever reason. I guess because every one complained about how expensive the GTO was. The Mustang GT with similar options isnt far off and it has 50 or 100 less horsepower in 04/05'.

Its clearly time to bite my tong and stop responding to you as it clearly does no good and this thread is absurdly long. Lets let it die and we can start a bunch of new ones when the Mustang GT and new GTO are out.

 

Well, I was talking at first about a specific race mentioned. Then moved to a more general comparison. For not making that clear, my apologies.

Same could be said for both of us and I don't mean that in a bad way. While I think comparisons of GT and GTO are a little off considering they are sold to two different groups, I look forward to future products and their comparisons. See you then.
