Well
#1- I dont like Mustangs. And the idea of spending another 3k more for a Mustang with a golden engine isnt exactly my idea of a good deal.
#2- Same power, better quality, and all the little add-ons everyone cried about. Not to mention the 03 Cobra is already 2 years old. I can just imagine the squeeks a 03 cobra makes.
#3- Not all people are looking for an all out race car, and belive it or not, some people actualy like a total package when they spend that kind of money... not just on a engine.

1) Don't buy one. BTW, Cobras are selling for $32K and are not hard to find at this price. Yes, sticker is $35K, but you'd be lucky to find the GTO you want at sticker...

2) Been in a Cobra lately? The quality is there. Like any car (including GTO) you'll get a bad apple every now and then. Let's see how 04 GTO's do in a couple of years.

3) Go sit in a Cobra. It's got a nice interior.

I think these two cars just cater to two different crowds. Let's see how things go once the new Cobras are out. We'll see if they still want to compare.

Uh ok, the Cobra interior is "nice" by SN95 Mustang standards. Heck I think my SS interior is pretty "nice" for what it is, but they both pale in comparison to GTO as far as comfort and overall appearance are concerned.

Never said the GTO didn't have a GREAT interior. It's just that some people make out the Cobra's interior to be made of rags and old newspapers...

I'd like to see that!

I don't know. I was in a base 02 M*stang with less than 30,000 miles on it, was never beat on, and it had paint problems and rattles already. The door panels even shook. So does this other guy's 02 that I know. Same kinda problems. Way less room in those cars in the front. Both are going to be getting different cars. I was so happy to get back into my 3rd Gen. (to also experience this thing called handling and an actual sports/musclecar-like arangement) There must be something really way different about those 03's and 04's.

Sitting in Cobra's from 96 to 03, the interior isnt all that great for a 35k car. There is nothing speical that really seperates the V6 Mustang interior from a Cobra. Seats are a bit different, and white face gauges...but outside of that there is no differences. The stearing wheel is the same wheel used in all Taurus up to 03... and even the Taurus got a new wheel! The radio along with everything else is parts-bin Ford. Same dash material as in my 95 Taurus. I know the 4th gens have the same exact deal, but when someone pays 35k for a car, it should have a bit better interior then what the Cobra offers.

The GTO and Cobra are in totally different segments anyway, but the local dealer has three on the lot, all selling at sticker. Funny thing how they don't seem to stay there more than 3 weeks, and thats in a state where we get plenty of snow.

I like the cobras, but they just aren't a good daily car for someone who wants a good performance sedan that wants comfort and class. Can you imagine taking 3 customers out to lunch in a Cobra? I can in a GTO. I agree about looking at the GTO in a few years though.

Regardless of how nice the cobra interior may be, the GTO far surpasses it. I wasn't overly thrilled about it until I went and sat in one, if you haven't you should. I'll bet you will like it then.

Keep in mind, I'm not trying to start a flame war, just suggesting you go test drive one and then post your opinion thats all. And if you want one at sticker, buy it here and I'll gladly drive it to you

Am I the only one here that doesn't have a reading comprehension problem? I NEVER said the GTO didn't have a better interior! Please read my statements carefully. Take time to understand them. The GTO is a very nice car. I like the GTO overall, but there are *some* things about it I do not like. The interior is NOT one of them. And as I stated earlier, "I think these two cars just cater to two different crowds." The GTO is new and because of that is better in many ways. It's not been out long enough for us to see what types of quality issues it *might* have. I'm not even saying it will have any! I'm just saying the 03/04 Cobra is a great car for a great price. The GTO is a different kind of car and is more suitable as one person suggested for business or whatever else you wouldn't normally do in a Cobra. Although, I think it would be pretty cool to have someone take me on a business luncheon in a Cobra BTW, GTO's are not selling very well at all in Texas. Go figure, you'd think they would seeing how we have nice weather for them here. Also, they've got a new Mustang Cobra coming in a couple of years (if you wanted to compare, that would be the one).

Not been out long enough? Is it not just a rebadged/facelifted Monaro that has been out for some time in Oz? I would think the majority of problems would have been worked out.

There is also a new Chevy RWD performance coupe in the pipes as well. Maybe we should wait and compare future cars to future cars

Yes, but we were talking about the GTO and Cobra But I'd like to see that comparison too.

I'll readily admit I don't know much about the Aussie Monaro, but I do know there are differences between it and the GTO even if it was built downunder. I'm pretty sure their quality is good (again, never said the GTO wasn't good quality).

LOL, neither is out yet though! I was talking about the future GTO and future Cobra. In fact, I didn't even compare them! I just said I'd like to!

Current Mustangs (and Vettes) are getting discounted huge because newer better models are coming out this fall, Wait until the Pontiac officially anounces the 400HP GTO to the public, you will see big discounts on the LS1 GTO too.
