The only problem with the numbers is that it is going to include leftover '04 Mustangs also. With the '05's trickling out, the dealerships are probably hard pressed to move the '04's, unless they are giving them away.
Are the Vette numbers broken down by C5 and C6, or are the just Corvette? If they are listed together, then those numbers will reflect leftover C5's also.
That said, you will always have a much higher stock of a higher volume vehicle. Look at the supply days for trucks and volume cars like Camrys, Malibu's, and such.

The point of the thread was wondering how 'vette sales were progressing. I'd venture they are pretty good. Mustang sales are not of particular interest to me. other than academic.

I've seen 4 C6s on the road and 3 '05 Mustangs so far. I liked the Mustang concept more than the production model...
You guys also need to remember that people are already saving up for the holidays...

'05 Mustangs are not lasting long............ and GT versions are being sold off the trucks. V6's last a little longer. '04 Mustangs are still out there in numbers.
What part of that do you not understand??? (you do realize that the '05 Mustang is a completely redesigned car, right???)
Our local dealership has 5 '04 Mustangs on the lot (it is a very small dealership). The 2 '05's they have received are gone (1 GT was sold before it arrived, the V6 was in the showroom for about 1 week).
This is in an area where RWD cars do not sell at this time of the year.
Yes, I think we all realize that this thread was about Vette sales. However, some Mustang haters just had to drag Mustang sales into it........... to try to once again bash the Mustang. I believe the first to do so is Big Al. If you want to get mad at someone, get mad at him.

Number of days projected supply for Mustang has been 104 days in August, 96 days in September, 75 days in October, and 68 days in November.
Re: 2005 Corvette sales... how's it doing, really?
If I came across as angry to you.......... I apologize. I find posting on these forums to be great fun.............. just as I find many of the posts to be hilarious.
Ford was actually very concerned about the supply pool of the Mustang. 68 days is way short of the goal (I believe they like to have 90-100 day supplies on the ground for the Mustang).
As I stated in my post, the dealership here is very small, as all are around here (population of about 25,000 in the area). As an example, our local Chevy dealership is also GMC, Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep.
Oh, there has not been a C6 up here yet. However, there is a Silverado SS there. It is only the second one they had here............... the first one lasted about 8 months.
On a side note, I know the Ford dealership has another '05 Mustang GT on its way............ but its already sold also. This actually bums me out as I wanted to really get a good look at one. I saw one at FFW, but it was a private individuals car........... so I couldn't exactly crawl around inside and out.

Once winter sets in there will no doubt be Mustangs you would be able to look at in fair numbers. As you alluded to, sporty segment cars slow in cold weather with exception to Florida and Southern California as well as other pockets of mild weather.
So, what is it that appeals to you about the new Mustangs?
Re: 2005 Corvette sales... how's it doing, really?
I had a '91 GT that I heavily modified (it was between that and a Camaro. I just couldn't stand the sitting on the floor in a bathtub feel of the Camaro, and I can't stang large overhangs........... both interiors were equally pathetic). I have wanted to get a convertible for quite some time. Unfortunately, the fox body stangs, along with the 3rd and 4th gen Camaros made for very poor platforms for a convertible.
I like the looks, I certainly like the price, and I like the strong new platform. Being a Mustang, I know that the aftermarket will be huge. While I was very interested in the '03/04 Cobra Vert from a pure brute hp standpoint, I just couldn't justify it for myself, because of the platform weaknesses. As a 40 year old enthusiast who enjoys working on her own vehicles, and modifying them, the new Mustang gives me a much better base to work with. With the increase in power for even the boring mass market GT, that has now become an option.
As much as I like straightline power, I actually enjoy handling, and the twisties much more. With the new Stang, I can have a vert that has good rigidity, good handling, a good ride, a much improved interior, and fantastic aftermarket support............. for a very reasonable price.
Do understand that I do not think it is perfect by any means............. just that Ford did a good job, especially for the price. Noone can look at the '05 Mustang and think it is anything but a Mustang........... and I think that is a very good thing.

I appreciate your candor and the thoughtful response.
I have no specific "gotcha" to point out in your descriptions as to what you like. Reason being, personal preferences are just that...personal preferences. Taste isn't arguable, only explainable.

Re: 2005 Corvette sales... how's it doing, really?
Thank you.
Everyone has different likes and dislikes. The key is to be open to what others like. I like to test drive vehicles of all makes, models, and price ranges........... this way, I hopefully will not judge any based on my personal prejudices........... just my personal likes and dislikes.
Anyway, I'm sure that the Vette will be a sales success. While I personally do not care for the look in front, I'm sure the driving dynamics are excellent.
Funny story. I have had a much easier time test driving a Lotus, Porsche, and even a Lamborghini, than test driving a Corvette. I actually had some pompus *** tell me that I could test drive it when I brought my husband back. I had this tremendous urge to punch him in the face.
