I went to both my local Chevy dealers and they didnt have one. Two dealers, one of which I bought my Maxx from, had any.
I have only seen the Corvette at one dealership, and it was inside as a display model.
All 8 vettes I saw were on the road...and one was parked next to my car .

Fair enough... I am using a bit of poetic license by saying they are on "every Chevy lot"... some Chevy dealers don't even get more than a few, or any Corvette allocations.

But, Kerbeck DOES have 10-15 C6's sitting on the lot... and several have been there a dsecent amount of time... and you can get them at MSRP from Kerbeck, so it's not really a big dealer mark up nightmare....

If you do a www.gmbuypower.com search on C6's, there are plenty to be had...

I know the Internet was not what it is now back in 1997/8, but still... it just seems so much easier to get your hands on a new Corvette here in 2005 than it was in 1997/8.

I think sales are still going strong.. Don't forget that there have been delays at Kentucky if I remember correctly. There was that shifter/trans quality issue and I believe there is another hold again recently.

I have yet to see more c6's on the road. (I've seen only 1 so far and that was on the other side of the freeway).. dealerships near me haven't had many either.. There is one sitting on the lot but that is because the dealer has a mark-up on it to keep it on the showroom floor to generate traffic. I don't think they will see a sales dump anytime soon though... PS.. I'm sure once they are out on the roads people will see them and get used to them with their exposed lights and actually go and buy one and that could help sales...

For some reason, having the largest Corvette dealer have some Corvettes on the lot doesnt bug me.
I might have to make the trip to AC and see all these purdy Vettes.

May they be slow, and may I get a job offer in 05, and maybe I'll buy one with rebates in the fall or winter

Re: 2005 Corvette sales... how's it doing, really?

winter i think would definately be a big factor for either the mustang or vette

but...i actually saw a nice precision red metallic (right name right?) c6 coupe that looked really nice
it looks like it sits higher than the c5 to me (might be that the roof sits higher, not sure on that, or that it is just shorter which gives it the more upright look than the long low sleek look of the c5)
either way, i thought it looked pretty dang good
i think it had some chrome or polished wheels too, really sharp

I have seen 2 C6's and no Mustangs on the road. I had one C6 right next to me in traffic and it looked fantastic! It looks even better in motion.

Every local Chevy dealer I have gone to has at least 1 2005 Corvette in stock.

Compare this to the 97 and 98 Corvette, which I didn't see sitting on a dealer showroom ever, except the very first 97, which was put under the car covers for the "debut" at all the dealerships.

I'm wondering if the reception has been relatively cold to the styling... it certainly can't be the power.

Gas prices are not helping either

The 1997 model was a short run-only 9752 cars (coupe only). May explain their scarcity on the lots that year. The c5 looked quite a bit different than the c4 it replaced and structurally was greatly improved with the use of spaceframe construction (finally) and hydroformed frame rails.

Besides the fixed headlights, shorter length and arched fenders, the c6 looks quite a bit like the c5 it replaced. In 2003 Corvette production was around 35,500 units.

I've had a C6 sighting every sunny day for the past couple of weeks...They seem to be doing fine in Dallas

I've yet to see a new Mustang out on the road, though.

I'm confident both will be hot sellers; 4th quarter isn't always the best time for people to buy a new car

Re: 2005 Corvette sales... how's it doing, really?

In St. Louis I've seen 2 driving around my area. A black one and a red one (they looked mean in person). I've also seen a few when I drive back and forth from St. Louis to Mizzou. Haven't seen any GT's yet. From how many I've seen and the price a Corvette cost anyway...I would say they are selling fine.
