Q's about an A4 autoXing

i have a A4 car and i was wondering if anyone else here had one. i need to know when your on the course what gear you hold your transmission in. last time i was there i kept it in 2nd and it always shifted 1st and 2nd and drove me nuts.

Three cars ago, I autox-ed an A4. After trying different things, I found that putting it in second and leaving it there was the best for me.

Hope this helps.

My Trans Am is an A4 and I usually leave it in second gear. If it's a tight course then I may downshift to first so that I'm in control instead of not knowing when the tranny was going to downshift on its own. This is very hard on the A4 and I've already had one expire on me. We both have 94's and the clutches that handle deceleration or engine braking are contained within a cast aluminum housing that is prone to split. In 1996 GM started using a steel one so that's what mine has now since I trashed the aluminum one.
