What kind of rear end are you road racers using? I talked to Strange Engineering today and they said I would need a full floater...The 12 bolts and 9" rear ends they sell are not set up for road racing side loads, where would you recommend I look for a rear built for the side loads?

I have a stock rear end with stock axles and all. I replaced the posi with a Torsen T2R and put in 3:73 gears.....other than that....all original 115,000 mile stuff....

I WILL look to put in some new axles this season with C-clip eliminators though....

Man, looking at all the chassis and suspension work you put into your car, that must be one heck of a ride!

The issues that Strange brought up are:
1) side load on the bearings causing them to leak
2) bolts coming out of the ring gear

Have you seen any issues with this?

I have had no issues with this set up in 3 1/2 years of HARD road racing...car is no longer street legal. Just this last race, I noticed a small leak starting on the drivers side....which is why I will now upgrade to new axles and the C-clip eliminator set up while I am doing that....just convenient to do both together.

My set up has seen hard driving and a lot of abuse....I lunched the stock driveshaft so hard it cracked the tranny and SHATTERED the bell housing and tore the driveshaft into a pretzel and threw it at the guy behind me on the track...that and my triple disc clutch is an IN or OUT affair that can be hard on it...

So i wont be missing out of the course aspect of racing.

Jon A put it best. You enough power to get started, Put the $$ into suspension, brakes and safety gear.
