Probably the wrong thread for this reply, but it is very possible to outrun a radio. In reality, all you have to do is outrun the guy using the radio. If he can't see you he can't call it in. That knowledge comes from my young and foolish days when I did things on the street I would never condone now. Granted, none of those radio operators were in Camaros, but then again I was in an Omni.

a co-worker was bored one night and decided to work some traffic on the highway at 2am. 3 cars passed him in his crown vic at 127mph. he was sitting still on the road. they exited trying to ditch him. he called me on the radio and told me which direction they were going, vehicle descriptions, and what lanes they were in. he lost sight of them after they topped the hill.

i slowly pulled across the access road, turned on the lights and waited. 2 arrests and 8 citations.

if you dance, expect that you might fall down.

in the summer of 2000 on midnight shift, we were getting a lot of complaints on racing and writing just as many tickets. we set a car up on one end of the highway watching for the racers. we were strictly hunting for this offense. 3 of us would sit about a half mile down the road. he'd turn on the lights and go after them, but as most racers do, they'd take off. we would pull onto the highway and block all 3 lanes catching every single car that was involved in the race.

i can normally radio a helicopter in most instances. you just never know if another cop is down the road. it's happened many times. be careful.

on the other hand, i do know a trooper out of hurst that got drug by a fox-body mustang. he was in a B4C LS1 camaro. he hit 155mph on 20 in arlington heading towards dallas at about 330am. he said the mustang just kept going.
someone in a mustang took a dump on his pride.

looking back, he doesn't recommend driving 155mph.

Yeh, I was never involved in a high speed chase, or one that lasted for more than 1 minute or so. I always told myself that if an officer came after me because he caught me racing, if he was still behind me after 3 turns or more than one minute I'd just pull over. That never happened. When I raced I knew the surrounding streets very well and almost always scouted them just before a race - raced once and then left the area.

Like I said before, young and foolish days that I have no reason or desire to recreate, but it does always strike me as funny when I hear or see that phrase, "you can't outrun a radio".

ok, i called every speed shop in town and no one carries racing brake pads or fluid. i ordered some ceramic pads from midas and some synthetic brake fluid. we'll show up with the new pads and have a new set to change out in the middle. we're stuck using the current tires that are on it; the RSAs.

and look for me in sunday's star-telegram. a reporter is coming out to do a feature article on me and the car.

Damn DV ... that police training has you trained not to ask for help from your brothers?

LG Motorsports in Wylie carries the brake pads and any motorcycle shop will have brake fluid.

But, in your case, some of that Ford HD truck brake fluid might work best. It's more for everyday driving than Motul.

Make sure it is the left turn blinker, you know, since we are mostly turning right this time.

you guys are going to be the first to see the new scratches.

the other guy i work with ran into a traffic barrel. the new pads got put on and they weren't seated in good. he clobbered the traffic thing and scuffed up the pass front and the nose.

needless to say, they are seated now. i had those puppies smoking earlier.

So, DV ...

What was it like to be the slowest car on the track?

I saw a Jetta out there with 4 people in it. He lapped you how many times?
