B4C Camaro in B4C trim ...

Exiting little bend and headed for Ricochet ...

3rd lap or so ...

B4C WILL be behind me ...

My brakes vs B4C brakes ...

Maybe I will pull over and let him by. Glad there is planty of run-off out there ....

Especially with two of them driving that car around the track. Those poor, little, brakes.

at least everyone will be far enough behind me where they won't have to worry about me not having enough room to stop.

So DV ... what's up? You are quiet ... does that mean you are cowering in a corner somewhere?

Were you at MSR this weekend driving that white Cobra that spun in Ricochet, Tombstone AND Big Bend .... on the SAME LAP!

If it was, I over heard you say "Guess I musta been drivin' too fast!"

i've been trying to get it approved to buy some of the stuff you guys suggested....motul brake fluid, kumho tires, carbotech brake pads, etc.

it's going to be a sad day if i have to drive on these f'ing goodyears. they are freakin' horrible. i slid around a curve yesterday going after a car. the car's handling is superior to the rubber on the ground.

so yes, that will probably be me doing the spinout in a few weeks.

It is cold so tires will grow more than when it's hot.

On street tires, run 36 in the front and 31 in the rear. It'll give you more turn in bite on the front, more side bite on the rear and the car will rotate more predictably.

Also, keep the gas tank full. I've noticed that my car gets a lot more tail happy when below a 1/2 a tank.

Have a front end alignment done.

At a minimum go +3.5* caster, -0.5* camber and zero toe.
It will be a little darty, but you will feel a NOTICEABLE improvement on recovery and steering response. The front end guy will swear it'll wear out the tires, but it won't. Trust us on this one ... I got 30K miles on a set of BFG Comp T/As with those specs.

Those are the simple things that make a HUGE improvement in handling. RSAs can be easily over powered, but I suspect the car is over driving the suspension tune.

What kind of shocks come on a new B4C? SLP Bilstiens?

i get the drift effect whenever i take a double turn; or a turn where i go from left to right or right to left. does that make sense? if i stay on one turn, i can run it until i'm squalling the tires, but not enough to lose traction. where i run into a problem is when i make a hard turn one way then immediately follow it with a hard turn the other way. the rear gets real squirrely. i don't jerk it to make it slide, but i have to throttle it up to get it back in line. i've driven many other cars the same way and not run into that problem. i usually run with the tration control on because if we get even the slightest peel out, someone will generally complain that we tore azz out of somewhere because they heard the tire chirp. when i'm doing a lot of driving though, i turn the ASR off because i can use the throttle to get myself straight if i'm doing some aggressive driving.

i'll try the pressure adjustment when i go in tomorrow.

we normally don't get more than 10K to 15K miles out of a set of tires on any of our cars.

Ah ... DeCarbons ...

Sounds like you might need a little bigger rear sway bar. A '93 1LE would probably help a lot, along with some better shocks.

Springs you will probably have to live with because of your application.

And the alignment specs will help you catch that oversteer ...

One other point of clarification ...
When it oversteers on the rebound like that, are you on the gas or off? A lot of gas pedal will help plant the rear, especially with those pressures.

Also realize those pressures are from track experience where temps rise very quickly due to a lot of hard cornering. Street driving might not see the temps come up quite as much, so elevate the pressure somewhat.

Do you get rear wheel hop on hard braking?

anything we add has to be justified for cost. i've got them convinced on the brake fluid and brake pads. i think i'm stuck with the tires. we get a gov't discount on the RSAs. they're $275 new, but we get them for $75 each.

i'm going to bring up the alignment issue with my commander tomorrow.

the car feels really solid, but it seems like i can't get any traction at all. if i push it really hard, i can turn the wheel and get no where; just skidding. now that i think about it, i'm sure it has to do with the cold plus, it got an oil change a few days ago and they aired the tires.

what do you mean by rear wheel hop? it's got that crappy rotor warp feeling that all f-bodies have, but other than that i'm not sure. i went to stop one guy yesterday and had to mash the s**t out of them. he slammed on the brakes to pull over. God i don't know how on earth some people get a driver license.

hopefully, some of these things can get worked out at the track. i'm hoping they'll give us some room to really torture this car. i'd like to do some 100 - 0 braking and some slaloms just to see how much before the tail kicks around. i want to push this car really hard.

i've been in some car chases that left my LT1 caprice smoking like it was on fire with the brakes almost gone. ever seen a set of brakes crystallize? the CVs handle pretty good and can stand up to hard use, but you have to be easy on the brakes because they fade fast.

in our police driving schools, they penalize you for using brakes so you have to learn not to use them so much. the last school i went to i was .4 seconds slower than the instructor in the road course. that was 3 days of fun.

Wheelp hop ... Oh you'd know it if you'd mashed the brake pedal hard enough. Unmistakeable ... teeth jarring ... It's not a pulsing under the pedal or a vibration in the wheel ... it's bouncing your head off the roof till you release that middle pedal!

Stock rotors ... we've had the best luck with Aimco blanks, available at Autozone for about $35 t the public.

The event is run just like a race. You will grid with a run group and the group will get 25 minutes of track access. It's a purpose built road course. No cones, no stopping, just ***** to the wall.

They do have a skid pad. But you should e-mail Rick and explain to him that you want access to it. Many times the instructors pit their cars on it.

So, does all this "help" get us a "get out of jail free" card?
